More evidence of Rare going 3rd party?
From Magic Box:
"Rareware has removed the preview pages for Donkey Kong Racing for GameCube and Donkey Kong: Coconut Crackers for GameBoy Advance in their website. This seems to be an indication of the company moving forward to become a third party developer for all major platforms."
Post any other tidbits/rumors/info if you find it.. Rare going 3rd party could be one of the biggest stories of the year...
Of course, Rare going 3rd party and primarily working for Gamecube, or Rare going 3rd party and equally going at all 3 systems would also be a big story too.

That sucks. I was looking forward to Donkey Kong Racing. Maybe it'll come out in a more generic form, using Rare characters instead of Nintendo ones. The game looked pretty sweet, and I was a big fan of Diddy Kong Racing on the N64.

Rare is going third party! I don't know why it this is still being discussed like it's still just a rumor. Sure it has not been officially announced, but only a fool with wool over there eyes can't see it. As a huge Nintendo follower, I've moved on, and so should the world.

If this thing was signed, sealed and delivered, Microsoft would have announced it at their big press event last week. There are problems between Rare and Nintendo, but it would be difficult for Rare to go multiplatform.
If they were working on Xbox, somebody would have announced it. Microsoft has nothing to gain by holding anything back. If they were working with Sony, that might be kept a secret.
More likely, they're still wrangling with Nintendo, while making threats and yanking gamers' chains to improve their positions. There's a lot of history between these two companies, and, of course, Nintendo owns 25% of Rare, as well as the Twycross facility.

i heard once that chronic masturbation made you go blind and your palms go hairy....
no ...
wait...
that was just more unsubstantiated fact....
seriously, do we need a "more evidence of rare going third party" thread? i mean, when was the last time they put out a game for any system? seriously? does it even matter? say they do go third party.... then xbox and ps2 owners can sit around a pretend that their games will be released on time just like nintendo owners do now....
lets just let it go.... when the news is OFFICIALLY ANNOUCNED it will be worth discussing.... until then, it does about as much good as a used condom...

Microsoft needs a boost badly in Europe. If they had Rare, they'd be yelling from the rooftops.

Why would Rare need to improve their position with Nintendo? They already get a ton of funding for their huge game developments from Nintendo don't they? How is saying "we're going to stop taking your funding by going multiplatform! but since you still own part of us, we'll still make games for your system!" going to help them anyway. Woo.. what a big threat. I mean, I realize that it would be a very good idea to hold on to Rare, but it's not like it will determine their fates if Rare makes games for other systems.

I disagree. I bought a GameCube partially b/c of the Rare games. If I knew that Rare would be putting out games on the PS2, I would have probably bought one of those instead. By holding back that card, they could lose system sales (which, in turn, leads to the loss of software sales).

Why does it matter so much if Rare goes 3rd Party?
They had like maybe 2 good games and that was it. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Anyone want to share some light on why Rare is so great?
