How would you hook it up?
Need some suggestions for hooking up the ps2 broadband adapter to my cable modem. My cable modem is in a different room than my tv. I thought of just getting another cable modem and splitting off from the cable in the living room (where the tv is) but, don't you need a pc to configure the modem first? Could also put a router on the existing cable modem in the bedroom and just run a 100 foot ethernet cable out to the living room and into the ps2. I know alot of you will be getting the adapter and figured you would have ideas. Thanks in advance!

I'd just run cable.
But then again, my last house looked like the inside of the Space Shuttle cause of all the wires running from room to room.
You dont need a PC to config a cable modem (least the ones I've used) they self config.
You could use a wireless Lan.
But being the cheapskate I am I'd just run the wires. Yuor friends will all think your cool because your house will have wires running around inside it. You get bonus points if you run them along the celing and paint them with glow in the dark paint.

The correct answer here is to purchase a small consumer-level broadband router and run ethernet cable to your PS2 from the computer room. If you were to obtain another cable modem and connect it to coax, you would have to pay for an additional broadband connection. Each cable modem is actually a pair of network interface cards with some electronics between them. The one connected to the coax has its own unique MAC address. This is how the broadband company controls access, it has a database of allowed MACs. This prevent people from just running out to buy a cable modem, hook it up, and get free access. You have to call the number provided by your broadband service and give them your MAC so they can add you to the access list. So, my advice to you is to go get a nice cheap broadband router, like the NetGear FR314, the Linksys BEFSR41or even the SMC SMC7004VBR. Then connect it to your cable modem via the router's 10MB WAN port, then plug your PC into one of the router's 10/100MB switched ports, then configure it per the instructions in the box, then run an ethernet cable to your PS2's broadband connection, plugging it into one of the other 10/100MB ports on the router. That should do it. You will be sharing your one broadband connection invisibly, with the added security of your router's firewall functions. Good Luck!

I agree with AGuyNamedMike, but another thing to do to save some money, is just unhook the cable modem from the computer whenever you want to play Sony Online or whatever it's called, and hook it up to the PS2 and the wall cable jack where your tv is, and then hook it back up to the computer when you're done. The router is a better idea, but more expensive.
