of course I think preseason rankings are a joke
but I guess they give us something to talk about

but I think the espn/usa today poll is an even bigger joke..
if Im going to talk polls, it will always be the AP..

no big surprises up there

georgia at #8 is a big suprise to me. the coach's poll had them at #11 and si had them at #10 in their college football preview. i think all of these are way too high. they always have good talent, but they always underachieve. imo they should be 15-20.

And in Murfreesboro TN, they are celebrating in the streets from getting a vote in the top 25.

I find it hard to believe that 5 Big 10 teams, particularly Wisconsin and Penn State, belong in the top 25.

I'm surprised there were only 3 drunken fools.

The MAC is the most underrated Conference. Toledo has just as a solid program as Marshall does (they wiped the floors with Marshall last year) and they recieved less votes than Notre Dame.

No respect...

This is probably pretty much right on.

However, it doesn't explain Auburn's votes! ;)

i wonder why everyone thinks umd is good at football, what a freakin joke

just cause they beat most of the crapola teams in the acc doesnt make them a new powerhouse

Umm they're ranked #21, since when does that consider a team a powerhouse. When Louisville and Marshall are ranked ahead of them I don't think anyone is considering them a powerhouse.

Your a fan of a big east school and your calling the acc weak. rotfl
Get a clue.

even though i go to A&M, i am surprised texas only has 13 #1 votes... i really think they have a good chance this year

I find it hard to believe Big 12 takes 4 top 10 spots

Why is it such a big surprise to you?

Also, as far as "always underachiev[ing]", they didn't so much underachieve last year. No one expected them to do any better than they did with a brand new head coach and a young, red-shirted freshman QB. The victory over UT in Knoxville was pretty good. Yes, they suffered losses to UF and a surprisingly good USC -- which is hardly underachieving -- but they lost 3 of their 4 games by a grand total of 16 points.

They have a tough schedule this year, the new recruits and solid leadership will pay off. I hope to see them in the SEC Championship game in December.

I still can't believe NC State is getting more votes than Arkansas.

When was the last time NC State went to a decent bowl?

I was going to get ugly....but you are relatively new.

The B12 has 7 of the top 25 teams in the country.

I agree the b12 is very dominate, but UT and CU will both play OU and NU, someone has to lose. Then most likely two of these teams will meet again for the b12 championship. The big 12 had 4 teams in the top 10 last year but some of the power houses didn't meet each other like they do this year.

And watch out for UCF this year. Being an SEC fan, I've seen them play a few times over the past couple years, and they are a solid team. I think that can only bring more credibility to the conference.
