PS2 port of Skies of Arcadia cancelled
Just got this from Sega World Weekly---------not sure if everyone already knows this or not:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skies Canned For PS2
While it came as totally un-expected surprise news to
PlayStation 2 owners this week when their port of
Skies of Arcadia was cancelled, it was great news for
GameCube owners.
"Skies of Arcadia Legends" is being ported over
Nintendo's console by an outside team, Point of View
and while it won't receive any real graphical
enhancements, new cinema sequences and quests will be
added.
Most exciting of all however, a 4th character is
joining the team, a dark female character named
Piastol, who fights with a large sickle. I wouldn't be
surprised if those large hooks on her boots are more
than a simple fashion statement either.
Three girls by his side? Won't Vyse be happy! It's for
these upgrades that the PlayStation 2 version was
cancelled however, so the developers can devote more
of their focus to the GameCube version. It's
interesting they would pick Nintendo's console over
Sony's to go with.

Interesting, no?

Interesting. I guess they decided it wasn't worth the effort to port it over to an already crowded PS2 RPG market. I'm wondering if they'll refocus their efforts towards an Xbox version instead?

Anybody know anymore about the post on Gameforms about the GC port being censored to make it more kid friendly? It's been a while since I've played the game, so I'm not quite sure what would be getting cut.
EDIT: Nevermind, looks like they updated the story. Alcohol and tobacco references, and possibly a story edit.

According to MagicBox Sega will be editing this game to make it more "kid friendly"
- Sega mentioned that the content of Eternal Arcadia (Skies of Arcadia) will be cleaned up to suit younger players. Scenes such as smoking, inadequate expressions and dialogues, and the use of alcoholic beverages will be removed from the game.
If Gamecube has games like Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil, I don't see why Skies of Aracadia should be edited.

Looks like the GC version is the same as the U.S. Dreamcast version, which was also cut.
