My friend sent me an N64... suggestions for a novice?
So, a friend of mine in grad school was spending a little to much time playing his N64, so he sent it to me! Im not much of a video game player, but I can be entertained pretty easily. So my question is, what are the best games that I should get? It came with a couple Zelda games... and he said GoldenEye was pretty good so I ordered that. What else would you guys suggest?
As far as like computer games go, I like Diablo, Civ, Warcraft is ok but it gets a little tedious. I liked Doom and Populous.
I'll probably only play on the weekends, not too much (I hope).
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Mario Kart, three or more friends, four controllers, and a bottle of jager. battle mode, all losers shoot.
Seriously even without the alcohol, I've never met anyone who didn't enjoy playing that at least for a little while. Most times the sessions lasted for hours. Along with the multiplayer from GoldenEye, you should be able to have quite the time.
MarioKart is a racing game in which you choose nintendo characters to race tracks or battle against one another. Along the way, you pick up weapons to shoot your friends down, defense items to protect yourself, and speed items to help you finish first or last the longest.
Mario 64 is a good singleplayer option. It's a 3D platform game in which you travel through different worlds collecting stars and battling enemies. Basically, the game is just fun to play.

Mario 64 is a platformer. To explain the genre simply you run and jump, dodge and kill enemies, avoid obstacles and do things to earn stars and collect things. Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo Tooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day are some other's to check out.
Mario Kart is a racing game with Mario characters on gocarts. It's a really good multiplayer game. You get weapons like turtle shells and banana peels to throw at the other racers to make them wreck so you can pass them. Diddy Kong Racing is another to check out if you like this.
If you like Goldeneye, then get Perfect Dark. It's the psuedo-sequel. It's buy the same people, and plays about the same, it just doesn't have the James Bond license.

I'm in the minority on this, but I prefer Diddy Kong Racing to Mario Kart, especially if you are going to be playing a lot by yourself. More variety, better tracks, better graphics, and three kinds of vehicles to choose from.

My favorite little sleeper hit for the N64 was Blast Corps. An addictive game where the premise is you work for a demolition crew and you have to clear buildings out of the path of a slow moving vehicle carrying a nuclear missle. Simple premise, but very addictive.
