This game looks like it could be very promising. I hope they upgrade the very few parts of GTA3 that were lacking, instead of just changing scenarios and leaving the game the same.

for some reason i really have faith they will do a great job with this. i do fear slightly they could, like you said, simply make a few changes to gta3 and cash in bigtime....but from the pictures i am seeing, it looks like a major graphical improvement...and i think we will get a ton of new vehicles and fresh new scenery and missions....the website lists all new character names.....andyone know how long they have been working on this though??

I hope that's the case. How did GTA2: London compare with GTA2?

The engine is going to be the same as GTA3, but it still looks great. The graphics look better and I can't wait. I think GTA4 is going to be the one with the new game engine built from the ground up, unless I'm mistaken.

The graphics on those images look pre-rendered and not "in-game" to me. I'm too cynical to take them as indicative of the final product.

One complaint I have? Cars aren't durable.

Kind of looks like cut scenes to me, also.

I doubt they'll make the cars more durable. Some of the trucks are built like tanks, but the little cars should crumple like cans when they get rammed into the side of a building.

As for the graphics, they look real to me, especially the water, which still looks like crappy GTA water, with a moderately improved crappy texture I wish Sony would just give them the water code from Splashdown, and let them incorporate that. As bad as the water was in GTA3, they never should have put the player on a boat. The boat missions were the worst in the game, and the ugliest.

I have a feeling they put a lot of budget behind this game, after the first was so successful, and I think we'll see some pretty big improvements. DMA is a studio that tends to deliver. This is my most anticipated game right now, and with all that great Nintendo stuff coming out, that's saying a lot.

The only thing that was frustrating about the durability of the cars was sometimes a single shotgun blast at close range would blow up your car instantly. That's really annoying. Otherwise, though, I think they found the right balance.

Those screencaps definitely look better than what I'd expect from GTA3. However, GTA3 uses the Renderware engine which has been improved since it first came out. I'm not sure how much improvement there was, but I guess it's not out of the realm of possibility that it was enough to make those postcards actual screencaps.

Heh, you can count on a lot more boating in the new GTA, it being based on a Miami Vice styled atmosphere and all.

Those screenshots are more likely from a PC at higher resolution rather than a video capture.

Just seeing that pick I get the urge to pull that dude from his golf cart and drive it into the pond so that he can watch his clubs sink to the bottom.

Then pop a cap in his a$$ and watch him bleed all over the course.

Maybe too much video game violence is a bad thing!

I was thinking along the same lines...like taking a fire engine and ramming that golf cart into the pond and watching the dude drown or lighting him up with a flamethrower!

I personally would pick up a hooker in the golfcart, then when I have 125 health, get out a golf club and beat her senseless until I get my money back.

No no no you rookies got it all wrong. First use the any outfit cheat and change into police uniform then get the Police S.W.A.T truck ram his ass to flip him over and when his cart catches fire he'll get out and run like the sissy he is, take out your bat and beat him down. Now how's that for police brutality.
