Anamorphic DVD's w/ extra's

Just finished watching Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which was extremely hilarious! (big fan of K. Smith and his group)

Little Background:

TV: Sony 27" Wega
DVD: Pioneer DV-440

I have the DVD player set to widescreen and use the 16:9 squeeze when watching DVD's enhanced for widescreen "anamorphic"

However, while I was browsing through the extras, I noticed that they were more matted than the actual film. So I went in the TV menu and turned off the "squeeze" feature. This seemed to make it return standard framing that was used in the movie. Since I don't have cable, and almost everything I watch formatted for widescreen - I rarely see any image that fills the entire set.

My question: With the DVD player set to widescreen... should the TV be "squeezed" when watching the extra's on DVD's? I thought I heard that most extra's are non-anamorphic? Does this mean that with the player set to wide and the TV not set to "squeeze" the image is distrorted?

Any info on this would be appreciated!

When watching a non-anamorphic image, like most extras on most DVDs, you should turn off the squeeze feature on your WEGA. You can leave your DVD player set to widescreen.

Since this isn't really about a release, but more of a technical question, moving to Hardware.
