Ques;Progressive on or off on player for Sony Wega tv??
I have a JVC XV-SA70bk player. It has progressive scan, as well as choices like video 1or2, film, auto or smart.
I have a Sony WEGA KV-36HS20 with component inputs. I see the tv has an option for interlaced or progressive. The progressive gives text a clearer look.
Now when i set the player to progressive the picture looks a little brighter, but to me a little cloudy, colors on the peoples faces seem to go a little yellow and pinkish. When i see a car grill there is no shimmer, real smooth, but i just find that there is a lack of detail, and i tested the tv's sharpness all the way up. I like detail and clarity.
Now when i turn the progressive off, the car's grill has a shimmer, picture is just not a bright, BUT detail on the people's faces (blemishes and such) are CLEAR,DETAILED. and the colroing of the faces look normal.
This is with a film movie dvd. I hear progressive is the best, all i see is that is improves on shimmer and stuff, but you lose detail and sharpness and a little color on faces. Is this true?? Am i alright on setting the progressive on the player off?? Help.
P.S. Yes i am using awesome component cables.

You essentially have converters on both your player and your TV. Both perform the same function of converting interlaced signals to progressive. The chip that handles the conversion is from different manufacturers which is why you notice a change. If you have not already done so, turn the progressive off on the TV and leave it on for the player. Then do the opposite: Turn the progressive off for the player and on for the TV. Go with the combination that looks best to you.
