I got an ad from Toys "R" Us today that says...

Hurry in today to "R" Zone to reserve your copy of Super Mario Sunshine and get a "Free" beach towel. (While supplies last. Offer not available online.)
I'm not sure why Free is in quotations. Not a great deal but something is better than nothing.

Anyone hear of any other preoder deals? I figure since there's one deal there's gotta be several others.

Canadians can preorder SMS online from Futureshop.ca and get a free copy of Luigi's Mansion.

I'm seriously thinking on getting in on that Nintendo 70 dollar deal...
Does anyone know what kind of beach towel they'll be giving away at Toys R Us? A Mario one perhaps?

If it's just a real lame white one, that'd be stupid.

I hope the towel has a gigantic shine star on it. If so, that thing is mine.

Unfortunately the TRU ad doesn't have a picture of the towel.

That Nintendo deal is a good one. My only problem is...

Shipments of the Super Mario Sunshine Bundle Paks will start on August 26, 2002 via 2-day air and may take 3 to 4 days for delivery.
Best Buy says they will have the game out on August 26th and TRU says they'll have it out on the 28th. I don't think I could bear to wait an extra second longer than I had to to own this game.

Ok, I went by TRU today to check out the towel.
They had one hanging up, and it looked pretty good.

It was a fairly large towel, and had "Super Mario Sunshine" on it (logo was about 3'X 1.5' or so). Then under that and to the right it says "Nintendo Gamecube".
I don't know...worth 5 bucks to me definitely, but I'm thinking other places may have better deals posted once Aug 26th comes around.

I'm going for the Nintendo deal. I can survive a few extra days without the game and its a good excuse for me to get a Wavebird finally. You just can't beat a package like that for $70 and that's with shipping included.

Thanks for the description Zodo. I'm surprised they had the towel out already. Do know if you get the towel when you preorder or when you get the game?

Anyone know if EB will be doing one of those trade 2 (or 3) games and get this one free deals for Mario Sunshine?

I picked up the towel today. I get all my games from TRU as I have a TRU Visa and I get them for free :) (lots of company expenses on the card). It's actually a much nicer quality towel than I expected, only complaint is Mario isn't on it.

The reason I didn't want to go ahead and order from TRU is b/c I'm afraid that another store will have a better deal.

Does anyone know if you'd be able to cancel the SMS pre-order at a later date, if you find that say Best Buy has a much better deal?

Does Costco accept manufacturers coupons?

They're selling the WaveBird for $24.99. With the coupon, that'd be a fantastic price!!

My son has been saving up for a game for the GCN, so I told him that I would pay the difference of what he's saved, and get the Nintendo deal... so that I can get another WaveBird and he can get the Magazine and his own memory card... he erased mine the other day... needless to say I was a little ticked...

... but what can I do he's only 4!

(... oh yeah... and he had around $40 in birthday money, so I'm just cough the dough up for the perks..., ain't I a nice dad!)

[edit] Trade in 2 PS2, Xbox, or Cube games and get Mario Sunshine free. Check out this thread for all the details... http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=227079

Thanks for the correction.

No, you read it wrong.

Trade in two games and get Mario Sunshine FREE. (GTA Vice is $15)

Great deal in my opinion.

I just called my local EB. Unfortunately Super Monkey Ball isn't acceptable for their "Trade-in 2, Get Mario Free" deal. Hopefully I can find a cheap game at BB or CC today.

It is cool. Do you remember when ToysRUs did that promo for N64 where they gave a N64 gym bag and a Mario T-shirt. That was hot. TRU does have awesome promo's.

You could try code 71902 at SamGoody.com for $10 off $50 and free shipping. I got that from this thread... http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=224168&perpage=25&pagenumber=1

Any more deals?

Believe it or not I still ahven't preordered this game yet. I was hoping a really awesome deal would come along. Since it hasn't I might just do the TRU towel deal. Anyone know if that's still going on? The ad I got said it was a "limited time only" or "while supplies last" deal.

I went to Toys r us yesterday and before i preordered super mario i made sure that if i found a better deal somewhere else, i could get a refund for the 10 dollar fee...or i can pricematch another place.

That sealed the deal for me.
I'm not gonna open up my new towel until I get my game though.

anyone find a better deal that at samgoody for $49.99 and then buy a sheet music (saw several in a quick look) for $0.01 and then use the $10 off $50 coupon?

the coupon worked when I tried it just now, plus they offer free standard shipping or $2.40 for priority or $6.10 for overnight, I'd like to get it ASAP so I'd probably go for overnight but think any place will have it cheaper than that, maybe a B&M place I can get it on day of release? (I know with Outpost when I used to pre-order stuff they sent it so I got it on the release date)

I think it's very possible BB or CC will offer a $10 gift card or something like that when Mario launches.

Man, that Towel is fetching $15+ on ebay... I want one, but I'm not paying THAT much.

Is it possible to goto Toys R US, pre-order Mario, get the towel, and never get the game? I pre-ordered mine at EB for free, but I still want the towel.

08-11-02, 04:50 PM
Blah! I reserved it for $10, and the guy said I won't get my towel until I pick the game up, Oh well. I will return Mario Sunshine to TRU when the E-Card Reader comes out, that way I get a free towel, and a E-Card reader.

Preorder it at KB Toys and you get $10 off on Zelda or Metroid plus a "Collectible" giftcard, whatever that is.

That's not a bad deal...$90 for Zelda/Metroid and Mario.

But you get a collectible giftcard too! Heh, figured I'd throw it out there anyway... someone might be interested :)

Go to http://store.nintendo.com and search for "Super Mario Sunshine Bundle Pak"...

Its there... $69.95...

CharlesC
08-13-02, 06:42 PM
Ah, I am idiot! I was searching just under the 'GameCube' site.

Thanks!

BTW, that 69.95 includes shipping, but they did charge sales tax (I'm in California).

Now I just need to get me a Gamecube. :)

There's also a deal if you buy a Gamecube & Super Monkey Ball 2. Same thing, you get a $25 gift card, but you don't have to buy the extra controller....
