Transducers
What do you dvdtalkers think about some of these like the BUTTKICKER II? I want to add a few to my theater, but are still up in the air. Drop me an email if you want to chat about theater or questions about my gear.

I find them to be a bit too 'gimmicky', for lack of a better word.
For something like Saving Private Ryan or Armageddon they make great thrill-rides, but I prefer to let my subs do the shakin'. YMMV.

My sub does an unbelievable job, and I still say it is the best sub on the market, but I watched two movies with the transducers last weekend. Forrest Gump, and John Q, and both were amazing and more movie theater like.

My experience with tacticle transducers was that they are too obtrusive and get in the way of the film. As I said, in a loud, action-adventure type film they can be kind of fun, but for dialouge driven films and the like...I don't see the point. I don't need to feel my ass vibrate every time a kick drum hits in a soundtrack, but thats just me.
As for movie theater sound, my setup blows away any theater I've ever been in, and even in a THX theater, I didn't feel my seat vibrate the way it does when using something like the Buttkicker.
But hey...it's all about choices

Not to hip on them either.
But many major installs use them, and I have friends that love them. So I think with how much you already have in your system why not go the last yard if you like the effect?

I am way hip on them... A must have in my book.
I have them set up so that I can turn them on and off per seat, so if someone wants to rock they can...but if my folks are over I can turn theirs off.
Gladiator is fantastic...
Here is my setup: http://www.geocities.com/jinhopark/photopagespiral.html
I like the fact that you don't have to have your sub cranked up to FEEL the bass, although with my setup it's difficult not to crank them!!!
