It's true you shouldn't buy a Mac if you are a computer gamer but I don't get the joke about upgrading. If you have a PowerMac can't you do the same upgrades that you can do on a PC? Was it directed at imacs?

the only reason it does is that many of the software programs are not made for the PC or are optimized for the mac and not for the PC.

The PC could outperform the MAC in graphics also with the same optimized software since PC's use better video cards anyway.

from the apple site

Choose the powerful ATI Radeon 7500 card or the premium performance NVIDIA GeForce4 MX card or the ultimate in graphics acceleration and visualization, the new NVIDIA GeForce4 Titanium card. All new AGP cards come with dual-display support built-in.

Summary
• 1GHz - DP PowerPC G4
• 1.5GB SDRAM - 3 DIMMs
• 2x80GB Ultra ATA drive
• Apple SuperDrive
• NVIDIA GeForce4 Titanium
• 56K internal modem
• Apple Pro Keyboard - U.S. English
• Mac OS - U.S. English
only $4099

at some point someone is going to port over the best graphics software and the MAC will lose the last stronghold it has left.

Just as an aside, I used to have a Mac (I have since switched to a PC which I rarely game on) and LOVED the Marathon series (which were Mac only) of FPS. Lo and behold the latest Marathon game morphs into what becomes the almighty Halo. There are some gaming gems on the Mac (few and far between) that reflect the quality over quantity philosophy of the entire platform.

If you want another funny mac clip, go to con______ion.com (pretty sure you can't post the link here) and look for "The Oracle Speaks" posted on 6/24/02.

It will still have a vastly superior and more stable OS.

Mac OS 10 is far superior to windows in everything but gaming. It's much more stable.

I used to despice Macs until my fiance got her new top of the line MAC with OSX a few months ago. It kicks the hell out of any PC I've used.

I only use a computer for Word Processing/Spread Sheets, the Internet and balancing my check book, so the sucky gaming on MACs isn't a concern. And she's a graphic designer, so a MACs the only way to go because the graphics programs are far superior on MAC.

But any rate, I was pointing out that MACs have an advantage, IMO, in the OS, in addition to the graphics stuff.

Its not too hard to be stable when youre only running a couple of things. The only reason is the lack of software. Apple has been recycling old wintel architecture for a few gen now. The only thing thats ever crashed XP for me is one particular new (buggy) online game. If everybody just surfed got mail and ran photoshop windows would never crash.

This is why I posted this video in the PC forum and not here.

Yeah because there are no complicated, CPU and memory intensive apps on the Mac.
Cough Final Cut Pro, Maya, etc
Let's no turn this into another lame Macs vs PC debate. It's true that only an idiot would buy a mac with gaming as their first priority but that doesn't mean the mac isn't a strong machine in other areas. Having said that, the video was pretty funny.
