Are region 0 or regio-free dvd's ok to buy online?

I have seen some sites that sell dvd's that are not region coded. Most of these are already released movies at an average price of $13-18 US. Are these ok to buy? Thanks for helping a newbie/

Depends really on the disc. Some legit discs are region free (the Twilight Zone discs spring to mind), and most R2 discs are also on the level.

However, there are all kinds of bootlegs coming out of asia - most of these are R0. I think the best guideline is: if it's a major movie coming out of HK, then odds are it's a boot.
