I know I got an original Nintendo shipped from Sears the second it was available. It was fun being the first kid in school (for quite a while actually) to own such a nice system. Also got a Turbografx 16 right away. Got a PSOne right away as well.

Just the Gameboy Advance for me. I have a friend in Japan that managed to pick one up for me w/ Mario Advance. I've always been the one to wait on systems. They're always too pricey for me to pick up at their launch.

Only the Gamecube. I felt very proud to be the first owner of a Gamecube from the Wal-Mart in Syracuse, NY. What a great night of not sleeping to get there so early!

The only system which I picked up the very first day it came out was the PS one. I picked up one of those over heating bad boys with toshinden and even though the system eventually died, it was defintely worth the money as it ushered in the first revolutionary step in console gaming.

The only launch systems I have owned are the Dreamcast, N64, and Game Cube.
I couldn't get a PS2 when it was first released because of the run on them and I didn't decide to get a Xbox until recently. I had a NES pretty close to the launch, but other than that I have always waited a year or more before picking up any of the others. The Saturn and 3DO were pretty much dead when I bought them.

Genesis, SNES, GBC and GBA are the ones I bought day of release. I believe the GameCube was bought for me on day of release for Christmas last year. I have picked up all the other systems I own after day of release.

Nintendo 64
Gameboy Advance
Gamecube
All the other systems I've had in the past (NES, Gameboy, SNES, PS1, and Dreamcast) I've picked up anywhere from a month (DC) to a year or more after launch.

GBA, GC. I had a Dreamcast pre-ordered from Value America, but of course that took almost two months to come in. So a week after launch, I drove 45 minutes to a TRU outside Atlanta to buy one, back when they had their 90 day return policy...

Not one ... being the eternal cheapskate I have always waited for price drops or multiple price drops.
I've had Atari 2600, Atari 5200 (not sure of costs as I was a kid, but I'm sure it was not at launch as I played many happy hours in the local Sears), NES, Super NES, Sega Game Gear, N64, PSX, DC, GBA, and GameCube, in that order. I currently only have the DC, GBA & GC (breaking my rule of always selling the previous console before purchasing another)
The one positive thing is that if you keep up the cycle, then you are ready for a new console when the prices are on the downside & the games are on the upside.
