Interesting Device - 2 player gaming w/o split screen

What do you think of this device?

While I think it is an interesting idea (who thinks this stuff up??), I see it as a guaranteed failure for several reasons. Aside from the complicated wiring you have to do, the video you finally get is definitely distorted and will probably be noisy as well. Also, I don't think people will dig wearing the glasses while playing.

Internet play or a link cable would produce superior results (although at much higher costs). I have to hand it to these folks for innovation though.

This implementation is kludgey and probably doomed to failure, but the concept is actually quite brilliant. Basically, it uses cheap LCD shutter glasses to allow two players to see totally different images on the same display.

I hope these guys have applied for some kind of patent, because if any of the 3 console manufacturers were to get behind this technology, it could really take off. Basically, they would just need to sell an adapter box with 2 LCD glasses for about $50, provide game developers with the right software toolkits, and new games would support this feature natively. Many two players games would be improved immensely by not having to split the screen.

Just wanted to add: Of course, this assumes that the technology works well without causing nausea or headaches after prolonged play.

I agree. I can't see this succeeding, mainly because of the whole hook up thing. Last thing I want to do is be running my console through my computer.
