Need DVD Player for LOTR
I know I am one of the few souls left out there with a VHS. I decided it was time to break out and step into thr future when I discovered the Circuit City plans to stop selling VHS player and movies. The other reason would be the Lord of the Rings DVD's ...we all know that a VHS tape just wouldn't be right!! So after a long day at work its off to Best Buy for me!

Of course, that blank is different for each one of us.
Congrats on your decision! They can be had for under $100, so it's pretty much a no-brainer.

If you are a guy...Do you have a wife? Pick up something she will like. It helps with the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) once you have speakers, receiver, cables, etc. showing up at the door
Also, your pockets will be lighter than they used to be

Also...don't get suckered into buying a cheap player. Stick with the big boys, like Toshiba, Sony, Panasonic, and Pioneer. Some players have problems with certain discs, but I have yet to see one that doesn't play in my Panasonics or Pioneer. Same with my cheap region hacked daewoo...

Actually if you are buying it specifically for LotR you might want to wait a little bit and see if someone comes up w/ a deal for people just like you If you aren't in a big hurry look around for deals/bargins. Granted it isn't like it used to be but w/ both of the players I've purchased I was able to get atleast a couple of free DVDs...

Welcome, alloy2! I'm not exactly sure what this thread is about... whether you're looking for opinions on a DVD player, or if this is a "welcome me" thread. Maybe the good people in Hardware can figure it out.
