Digital Coax or Optical??

Hey all, I was wondering, which is better, have a Digital Coax cable going in to a Reciever with DD and DTS from a DVD player, or using the Digital Optical cable? I have always used the Optical cable, but some people are saying the other is better, which one is better to you all???

We have had many threads on this in the past. General consensus is that the sound quality is 100% idential, but that the digtial coax cable don't damage as easily. I use optical and unless you are having sound problems there are much better ways of spending your money than switching digital audio cables.

Would I be wrong for bringing up a dead horse and a beating? Come on, if you really want to know do a net search. There are some interesting and thought provoking articles on both sides. I guess your next question is whats better dolby or dts, or better yet, full frame vs wide screen....

Surpisingly the answer may lie in how many inputs your receiver has.

I use optical because I have more inputs for optical and want to keep the coax free.

Good luck!

I'm using coax on my DVD player because my PS2 and Xbox are already using the 2 opticals on my receiver. I'm happy with the performance of both of them. If your cables are exposed though, the optical ones can sometimes popout pretty easily.

I am just theorizing here but coax is stronger than fiber optic and most entry level receivers have few if any fiber optics jacks but would most likely have a coax connector.

Just musing!

Agreed that a search will give you more info than you can shake a coat hanger at.

Closing duplicate.
