Looking for "cheap" sound system...
Hi,
I've got my HD TV hooked up to my progressive DVD (Supports DTS)...
But I have just an older stereo with 3 radio shack speakers (right, left, center).
Right now, I am actually mostly happy with the sound. But, I think that a 1/2 way decent DTS system would knock my socks off.
Any recomendations? I don't want to go overboard, since my present system is "ok".
Thanks

Don't really have a price point in mind. I don't know... maybe $500... but I'd be willing to go higher if so convinced. I just know I'm not really looking for top of the line.
No DTS receiver.

I would look at getting a nice, entry level receiver like the Onkyo 494, Onkyo SR-500, or the Denon 1602. You should be able to find them in the $250-280 range. Then add some JBL or Energy Take 5 speakers. Finish it off with the Sony WM-40 sub for around $140-160 (unless the speaker set came with a sub). You should end up with a DD, DTS, and DPL II capable system for about $700-800 that will outperform almost any HTIB.
