High pitched noise from TV

I just got this TV from an uncle a few weeks ago, and recently it has started that high pitched ringing. It is not always, but inconsistent... it will come on here, then go off... come on, then off... haven't noticed anything with the picture. If I turn DirecTV off, the ringing stops.

Our old Zenith does this.

Any ideas? I heard this might be the transformer... if so, replace it? Get a quiter one? Dust the innards of the TV?

the TV is a 36" Mitshubishi, about 5 years old.

I get the same problem with an old Sony 27" TV i have as well.... After it's been off for a long period of time (lets say over night) the next day when i turn it on the set emits a high pitched ringing type of sound...... It lasts for a minute or 2 but then fades off to nothing.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this strange occurance.

I have a Sony 27" that used to do the same thing. The funny thing is it did it after it had been fixed. After a year the sound went away on its own. It's a mystery.
