Thanks :D :D I haven't thought about a insert for The Hidden but I think its not a bad idea :) Maybe I can find some time next week to make one... as for the Superbit DVD IŽam looking into it but it might take some time to find a good way to add the superbit logos to the cover...

Thanks for the CTHD LE cover Sebastian. looks sweet, but i see your point, the purple sky kinda looks weird compared with the rest of the cover.

Also has anyone considered making a Se7en cover using the 'Notebook" type case the disc is stored in? maybe it could be like the Evil Dead BOTD cover on dvdcoverart and just list the extras in a little box on the back.

I've been thinking about putting together a cover for a 4-disc case to contain the Evil Dead Limited Edition trilogy, including ED:BOTD, ED2: Tin, and AOD: LE. Since the first two EDs came in nonstandard cases, I figured it was a natural. I'm looking to use a motif very simple and elegant, like Ash's silhouette with chainsaw in(stead of) hand, or the Necronomicon sitting on the table, or any number of less-cartoony (e.g. the ED2 tin, most of the art that's out there) images. You know, I want something simple but memorable, like Se7en, or the Night of the Living Dead ME.

Thoughts?

Well since I made it I can change pretty much anthing, but I really like the "old school" logo :)

But I have to say you will have to live with looking at it, because the design will be used for a new full color custom metal case from Paul Champagne... so give it a little time and you can put your favorite trilogy in a nice metal case :)

Will the case be designed for 2 singles and 1 fatty double, or will there be a version for those individuals who didn't get the LE AOD, but one of the many other incarnations? Will there be a version that can hold the Super Jewel Case that held the various picture-disk releases of ED1? What about the BOTD itself? It is essentially the same proportions as a keepcase, with 3d embellishments. Will that fit, with some squishing?

Hey, sorry for my tardy reply, was kinda obsessed with my Mononoke Hime cover ;) But back to the case. Since it's a custom case and it's from Paul Champage you should be able to get it in the size you like. I designed the artwork to exactly fit a box with two amarays and a double alpha case, but AFAIK Paul will make it fit for any configuration you might have. I gave Paul the cover in two parts, the background plate and the text plate, so you can even put on the text the way you like it... Hope that helps...

Hey just thought i would warn anyone who is considering buying any of the "Spider" type DVD cases @ inetdvd, Very few covers will actually fit in them. I tried about 20 diferent covers from different studios and ones printed of dvdcoverart and only about 4 fit in OK the others were all too big. On the other hand anyone looking for a great slim 2-Disc case should check out the ones @ c4component, They are great cases and they don't flap around like the Amaray cases, but the still have a place for books & inserts unlike the AlphaPAK slims @ inetdvd.

Issue #1: What do you guys use to print covers? I'm not made of money, but I need a new printer. I've been looking at inexpensive Lexmark inkjets and was wondering if one would be sufficient. They all claim "photo quality," but I'm not exactly sold.

Issue #2: What kind of paper would you recommend? Is regular paper okay? How about "bright white" HP paper? Or should one use high quality glossy photo paper?

Well, as far as printers.. I just bought a Canon S520 and it's great.. I can 'lie' to it an tell it to print on 'legal' paper and it will fit a standard case cover on standard letter paper.

Lexmark isn't bad, but if I recall right they really make the money with the ink cardriges wich are really expensive. So if you plan to print a lot of dvd covers you might wan't to look out for a printer that has cheaper ink cardridges preferably one for each color...

I would recommend to use high quality matte photo paper wich delivers printouts nearly indistinguishable from originals...

If you're not planning to print more then may 15-20 covers I would say the Lexmark should be sufficient. I don't know how much covers the lexmark can print with a single set of ink cartridges, so I can only assume that it will be around the same amount as my epson photo 820 , that can print 22 covers with a single set of ink... The only real tip I can give you is not to invest in annything with more then 1400dpi because you want see a diffrence between 1440 and 2880dpi...

Hey I love this movie! But doing a custom cover with one of the artworks from the dvd will be pretty much impossible since these alternative artworks were never released...

But if I find a little spare time I will do a cover for my code 4 dvd set of Hanibal... :D

I am new around here, but wanted to say that you guys are really doing a great job designing these covers.

I also was wondering about something. I have a Hewlett Packard 932c printer. I have been printing my covers on glossy photo paper. The problem and question is this: when I first print them they look amazing, sharp crisp, perfectly legible. But after a few days, they seem to bleed some and the text becomes a little blurry. And the small text becomes hard to read. Has anyone else had a similar problem? If so what have you done to fix the problem? I was using expensive HP Glossy Photo Paper. Thanks for the help.

I am also working on some new covers also. So I will let you know when I get them ready.

Here's a request:

How about a 2-disc deluxe edition of The Exorcist with the 25th anniversary DVD as disc 1 and the "Version You've Never Seen" as disc 2? Both are crummy snapper cases anyway, but I thought it would be cool to combine them into a 2-disc deluxe edition since both have different extras (which is why I own both DVDs). Can somebody make a custom cover, kind of like what someone did with The Matrix and The Matrix Revisisted with that cool 2-disc custom cover that combines both.

I threw together one for a QUAD DVD holder last night, I cant believe they put 4 discs in cardboard sleeves! Argh, I dont like it when they do that... The rest of the packaging is nice but darn them for cardboard sleeves.

Every website is out of stock / back-ordered on the only thing I need: slim-double amaray cases and a clear single amaray case.

None of them say when they'll get more in stock, but they do say that those items are typically out of stock. - then why doesn't the manufacturer make more - each week there are more people that need this stuff, but they never bump up production to match demand.

Disc-Flipper, I use the "slim doubles" for most of the vcds i burn with my Terapin recorder, but i use the white AlphaPAK versions from inetdvd for my vcds and the black cases from c4 for my DVDs. I store my vcds in white cases and my DVDs in black cases.

Yes, slim-double amaray cases, like the ones used for Gladiator - that's what I was talking about - everyone's sold out of those. Are you talking about the same thing?

Oh, and the cases they have at C4 are the ones that hold discs on both sides - there's no room for a booklet. I need the ones that have a "page" flap in the middle for one of the discs.

slop, Actually the ones at c4 *DO* hold a bokelet it just goes on top of the disc stored on the left side. and if you have the 2-disc T2 the booklet will fit and let the case close securely. I personally don't like the double amaray's because of the stupid "flap" (it breaks to easily), but that is just my opinion.

I'm reminded of my efforts to design a keepcase-sized cover for Rock & Roll High School for its first release, the Lumivision version, which came in a jewel case. Practically the moment it was up at Mr. Moody's, New Concorde announced a full-on SE in a keepcase with the original art. I picked it up gladly, but kinda wished I had just waited and let things work themselves out.

Now that we're hearing Coppola's working on Outsiders:Redux (the man needs to stop hanging out with Lucas, methinks), you can expect a proper packaging of an SE in the near future.

Of course, if all you want is a cover for the theatrical release, best of luck.

It wont work unless the dpi number is higher. You might try asking the board for a better picture.

Your DVD storage case custom slip sleeve looks great! If I had access to Paint Shop Pro I would try to edit your creation for my needs so I make the following, what might seem like a strange request.. but how about three matching covers?

I don't know if you have seen some of the older VHS releases from the 'Star Trek' movies where once you had all of the movies they created an image of the Enterprise on the spine?

But the reason that I ask for three single boxes is.. I have about fifteen+ of the single storage cases and it would cost me almost close as much as I paid for the "V" DVD just to order a multi-disk amaray storage cases... I am getting charged $6 shipping! One day alone I received five of the "FREE" AOL cases!
