strange noise coming from my Toshiba 2109
I hear a sort of "tweeting" noise when I have been playing a disc for at least forty-five or so minutes. It cuts in and out throughout playback, but stops when I hit the stop button. It's very high-pitched, and sounds like perhaps a disc transport issue or something.
Does anyone have any ideas for me? My guess is that the cost of repair won't be worth it. Is there anything I can do myself to try to put a halt to this?

Probably a squeaky spindle. When the player heats up, the squeaking starts. When you hit stop, the disc stops spinning and the squeaking stops.
If you're brave enough, you can open the player up and try to lubricate it with the appropriate silicone grease or graphite.
