Berserk 1: War Cry- may I have a review please?
I love Lain, Gasaraki, Ninja Scroll, Ghost In The Shell, Akira, and Macross Plus. Would I like Berserk?
It sounds interesting.
If you have the DVD, could you give me a review of it?
Thanks

Very good
From a content point this is a very good disc. I saw volume 1 with the box and paid full price for it. It takes place in a non specific midievel Euopean atmosphere and can get bloody as hell. The audio and video are quite good on my middle of the road setup and the dubbing is not bad.

If you hated everything anime, you'd probably still like Berserk. Has some of the strongest story telling of any anime out there.
Animation is somewhat lower/coarser than what you'd expect now-a-days, but it's distinctively non-digital, which actually works greatly in it's favor, the remastered video is excellent as well.
I'd say check out the animeondvd.com review of it, it was fairly thorough.
Just as a quick sidenote, Berserk does have some taboo subject matter in it. It didn't even occure to me until somebody brought it up though, you wind up pretty deep into the world and everything that occures seems perfectly suited - so the events are there for progression, not to shock...but there are always those who are easily offended.
and I just realized how far off what you asked was: Audio/Video are really quite good, and the content for this disc (eps 1 - 5) prove to be an excellent introduction to the series. which is 25 eps long (dunno if it's a 5 or 6 dvd release.)
