... Rollerball is a shockingly atrocious film that sets a new low for remakes. It’s a total mess – confused and sloppy, and the dullest action movie you could imagine. It’s not tied down by the nuisance of a storyline, nor does it pay a whole lot of attention to acting or dialogue. In place of all that, we get two hours of frenetic confusion in the rollerball arena, interrupted occasionally for a car chase, off-rink fight, or clumsily filmed love scene.

It’s risky to predict that an early February release might be the year’s worst movie, but it’s difficult to imagine that a more confused, less interesting and more sloppily made film could possibly come down the road in 2002.
