Doesn't have Pro Logic 2.
Agreed it's still a solid value.

Here's another 2:
Denon AVR-2802 for $525.95
Denon AVR-2802 Specs
Kenwood VR6070 for $371.25
Kenwood VR6070 Specs
I'd personally suggest buying the Denon from an authorized distributor and pricematching it, since Denon is picky about that (warranty issues). Kenwood's VR5xxx and VR6xxx is supposed to be pretty good, far better than their lower lines, or else I wouldn't recommend it, as Kenwood has traditionally not been very high quality.

I highly reccomend the Kenwood VR-509, it has everything you ask for and more, has dolby digital/dts, component switching and pro logic 2
it also has circle surround which is used for audio cds but the best feature that it comes with is its remote. This remote controls my reciever, tv, dvd player, cd player, vcr, and digital cable box. It has an LCD screen, it can work with up to 10 or 12 components and can learn 5 buttons or functions with each component, its also a RF remote, I used it from outside of my house at the opposite end and it still worked with turning the volume up and down
pretty sweet

It has everything I need:
4 S-Video inputs on the back (DVD, Tivo, PS2, Xbox)
2 Toslink (PS2, Xbox)
1 Digital Coax (DVD)
Plus about every freakin' version of DD or DTS.
murpm3, you might want to give this one a look at. They sell them at Circuit City, but are in short supply right now.

As long as you have high sensitivity speakers, the SR-600 is really an awesome bargain. As BigDave said, you get all the bells and whistles. It's just $429.10 shipped right now.

Do Onkyo's amperage go to crap in the low end line or something?

Onkyo's latest receivers seem to have less power than their older ones, especially with all channels driven. Sound quality is supposed to be excellent though, and they're very feature packed. Make sure to mate them with high sensitivity speakers.

I have been very happy with my Denon 2802.
I was able to buy it using my amex blue at goodguys.com an authorized dealer for $749 shipped after a $50 coupon they had and free shipping then I pricematched it before the blue deal ended and got $175 more back. No sales tax made it a real good deal.
If you have a card that can pricematch within 60 days wait 31 days(after goodguys authorized dealer only pricematch policy expires) then get the money back from your card I would buy it from them.
Because goodguys is an authorized dealer it gives you the best of both worlds
My only complaint the volume control showing on the receiver is very small for my 40 year old eyes.

That's no longer possible with Blue, you need to use a new card. Great idea though. Denon is extremely picky about where you buy from.

They recommended amp power is 15-125 watts, so I should be just fine with this reciever.
My pricerange was $400 - $500 and this reciever met all of my needs and then some. Though for anyone getting it, make sure your speakers are rated to handle it.
