Blockbuster with HP Widescreen only?!
I was, in a word, shocked when I was at Blockbuster last night for some unknown reason and saw that every single Harry Potter DVD in the store was Widescreen. Did someone make a mistake or is Blockbuster finally listening and doing the right thing? Was just wondering if anyone else noticed their local video renting places finally turning to Widescreen.

Though I don't rent from BB, I occasionally will stop in out of curiousity. The one nearest me had all WS Harry P as well as Ocean's 11. Pretty good for a Shitkickerville.

To my knowledge, Blockbuster hasn't stocked a P&S version over the widescreen since American Pie 2 came out, but I'm not 100% sure on that. It also seems to me that most of the films they opt for the P&S version are Universal (American Pie 2, The Grinch, and The Mummy Returns come to mind).

I've been pretty surprised with my Wal-Mart lately. They must have someone there who cares about widescreen, because it's always given at least 50%, sometimes more space whenever there are dual-releases of any film.
As for Blockbuster, I haven't been in one for quite awhile.

I was pretty impressed when I stopped by the Border's by work the week of the Harry Potter release, and every single copy was widescreen. They'd completely saturated the store with HP DVDs (stacks at the checkout counter, in case you forgot to get one earlier, etc.) and every single one was widescreen.

At the blockbuster where I work we carried the Harry Potter only in widescreen, same went for Ocean's 11. We did have some sell through copies of Harry Potter in full screen though.
