Need Help w/ Setting Up System!

If any one can give me a couple of simple suggestions and a little advice I would really appreciate it.

I am finally at the point where I want to spend a little bit of money on some surround sound speakers. The problem is that I know diddly squat about it.

First off, I am starting with a Pioneer "DV-C302D" DVD player. I am in the market for spending around 150.00 to 200.00 on a 6 speaker set. I found "KLH" at Best Buy to have what appears to be a decent set. Can't remember the model number however.

The back of my DVD player seems to have all the necessary connections, but I where I am starting to get lost is whether or not I need an amplifier or does my DVD player have on built.

Would my best bet to be to buy a bundled system that includes a receiver/amplifier/6 speakers? If so, does anyone have a suggestion on something in the $300 range. I have know idea if anything decent can be purchased for this price, so let me know. I don't need top of the line, but at the same time, I don't want the cheapest thing out there.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Yes you need a receiver.

I am not very well versed with packages like this and $300.00 may be a low priced as it gets.

All the neccessary settings are in the receiver. I'm guessing $500 will be about the least you can get away with for speakers and a receiver. If you invest in decent electronics you can always upgrade the speakers piecemeal later on.

$300 for a receiver and 6 speakers is about the cheapest thing out there. I consider KLH to be a bottom of the barrel brand.

I would recommend getting a well made entry level receiver and a quality pair of bookshelf speakers for around $400-450. The sound improvement over your TV speakers will be amazing. Then add the center channel, rears, and a sub as you can afford them. One thing to remember is that quality speakers is the one home theater component that never gets outdated and they can hold their value for many years.

There is two ways you can go if you want to save money. Remember these are basic solutions and will not mean that your system is top, for that the best way to go is seperate components and a big wallet. I think you are more interested in a home theater in a box system.

If you rather buy an All in One DVD player and Home theater system there are quite alot to choose from. This would be a good solution if you want to return your DVD player. These systems can go really low and may be around your price range.

If you want to keep your DVD player you can buy the reciever with the speakers included. You can find some for a price of $300 if you look around. For example at Sams club there is the RCAŽ 700 Watt Home Theatre In A Box for $300.

The places you can check out are Walmart.com, Samsclub.com, Bestbuy.com, or Circuitcity.com.

Like I stated before these basic home theater in a box systems will not rival those of the true home stereo maniacs but they will suffice for the beginners.
