I can see about 80 things wrong with that list.

Seriously, it's surprising how the majority of the list is bands from the last 10-15 years, with some exceptions.

Apparently people didn't listen to music prior to the 80s

Presumably the results reflect the demographic of the radio audience - and a younger audience is likely to vote for newer bands.

Wouldn't it be great if someone added together all such polls for the past decade or so, did some statistical jiggery-pokery to make them representative of, say, 15-50 year olds generally and then announced those results....?

Well, KROQ *is* supposed to be an alternative/modern rock station. What bands and artists prior to the 80's were labeled that? And I'm not quite sure what the definition of alternative or modern rock would be these days. But I certainly wouldn't label most of the famous bands from 50's/60's or 70's either.

Note: It says, BIGGEST KROQ BANDS OF ALL TIME.

I believe KROQ might have been around in the 70's, but its primarly known for its influence in the 80's and 90's.

The funny thing is.. half these bands wouldn't even be "KROQ" bands if KNAC was still around. A lot of the bands played on KROQ used to be played on KNAC (Metal/hard rock station).

Metallica and Rage come to mind.

Either way, its good to see some bands on the list (the played these bands during the memorial weekend). I'm surprised Nirvana is #1. Funny cause Offspring was #1 last year (I think).

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Beastie Boys were number #1 last year. This year they are #9. It's pretty interesting (to me) to see these numbers change. But I'm thrilled that Depeche Mode are at #3. They were number #1 three years ago and #2 last year. And KROQ never plays them anymore!

I can see the reasoning behind the nOObian teen set voting in Linkin Park to the top of the list. Sad, though it may be.

But Sublime? SUBLIME???!!!???

I have **never** heard Ozzie on KROQ. I think they just threw him in for good measure just BECAUSE of his popular show on MTV.

I know what it said My bad for not including and

Which leads me to another topic: some consider making music to be a lifelong commitment...why should you stop making music when you are 35, 45, 55, or whatever? Should one stop because the high priests of "relevance" say so? I think not

"Special Edition"?

The funny thing is how many of those bands only have 1 or 2 albums out. They are just a passing phase. 5 years from now, no one will know who Papa Roach or Sum 41 is.

I don't know if I'd make a prediction like that. The same could have been said about No Doubt in 1995, but they are still around. Or of Green Day in 1994. etc. etc. etc.

I have way less of a problem with Sublime's placement than I do with Linkin Park's.

I agree. I can't stand either Sublime or Linkin Park, but I understand that Sublime is a SoCal area band and were very popular in that area for years before breaking nationally. But Linkin Park that high on the list? That's just nuts. But what do I know, this list is why I don't listen to the radio.

Because he is played on KROQ. In fact for years KROQ used to have a Reggae show on Sunday (I believe).

Uh... U2 and maybe Metallica are the only ones there that could possibly be considered bigger than Pearl Jam. I mean really, once I saw Blink-182 over them, that was it (the whole list is a joke)
