Worst Cable Network? TNN gets the first nomination...
My vote goes for TNN, or "The New TNN". I guess the guys there dont realize that The New TNN sucks donkey butt. 6 hours of Star Trek a day is a bit much (I dont understand why Paramount allowed that...God knows that has hurt the TNG season box sets sales).
TNN used to carry a lot of sports that no other networks would pick up. ASA, Arena Football, Professional Bull Riding, and WORLD OF OUTLAWS. Now all that remains is ASA and a little PBR. Mullin Production Group, which produces ASA races for TNN, hires local people to be their RF crew for broadcasts. I worked with them at a race in South Boston...a race that was tape delayed because Saturday nights at 10 is when WWF Excess airs. This shows a large amount of idiocy...taped wrestling over live motorsports.
The stupidest thing is the loss of the World of Outlaws. That was the SINGLE GREATEST thing that TNN ever broadcast (if youve never watched an Outlaws race, then you should).
Sorry, I wanted to vent on this. But if anyone has a suggestion of a network that is worse than TNN, lets here it.

Brainwashing 14 year old girls, just like the pop radio stations. MTV2 is not bad....they will have stretches of really, really great videos from a variety of styles and eras, but they keep them grouped really well so that you can watch for a stretch instead of three minutes at a time.
Muchmusic is pretty good as well. They have the balls to play many of the bands that will never see the light of day on MTV, and the VJs are actually informative and (gasp) occasionally entertaining. Their band interviews and guest appearances are great as well.

Yeah, MTV is pretty bad too. I heard once that the reason they blur out any sponsor logos in their television shows is because they dont want to influence teenagers. I find this odd...I mean, they do show commercials, and they have programming which regularly talks about drinking, drugs, and sex. The real reason is that MTV doesnt want to give out any free advertising...but they hide with this fake policy of "protecting our children".

I agree that MTV and TNN sucks-but I think that ESPNNews is the biggest waste of air space. The same half-an hour show over and over again.

MTV by far. While TNN is annoying, squishes their shows, and airs the same episodes over and over, at least they do air some good programming. MTV on the other hand is one huge manipulative lie, and their best show -- Tough Enough -- doesn't have the first thing to do with music.

not even when they had dukes of hazzard reruns
I hate that TNN squishes ST TNG with that black bar on the bottom, but I do watch it most of the time when it is on
if I wasn't a big ST fan I would never watch that station though unless they had a good movie or something on

TNN sucks for sure, but I can say that I actually watch it. The same could not be said when it was The Nashville Network.

I must agree with the MTV choice. As an initial viewer of MTV it has certainly changed. Because of the earlier MTV people my age became more atuned to music, there was more of a chance that we would try something new. This would turn into more sales of lp's and concert tickets.
As for TNN, I preferred the old format; but just.

Any network that thinks I'm too stupid to know what channel I'm watching so they put a bigass multi-colored station logo in the effen' corner of the show I'm trying to watch

When they were The Nashville Network, I didnt watch anything of the "Nashville" aspect...just the sports...which was really good stuff. I remember at one point they had Winston Cup coverage that challenged that of ESPN (of course that was a long time ago). They did some great things though...they brought ASA and the Busch Series and World of Outlaws into the light by picking up a heavy load of their races...why they felt like reruns of Star Trek and Baywatch would draw a bigger audience is beyond me.

Well, they USED to have good programming. Now they are no different than any other network that shows reruns of old shows all day.

There are so many crap channels out there it is amazing. Golf Channel, that horse racing channel, all the shopping channels, 15 Discovery channels, on and on and on. Dish Network even has several channels that are from colleges. It is nothing, but professors standing in front of a class teaching. Who wants to watch that?

While its not the worst network, the one that gets the quickest fall from glory would have to be USA. They used to have a lot of good shows and original series (La Femme Nikita, Duckman, WWF, etc). Now they just have total crap. I can't even recall watching it in the last year or so. It used to be a vital station that I needed to have - now I could care less about it.
