I know there was talk a while back of trying to organize a meet with everyone from here at E3. Who's going? What's the plan?

I'm going. But I'm not sure what day. I already have my badge and authorization to go (miss work and get paid!!! :) ).
What day is usually best? The last 2 times I went on Saturdays, but they don't have a weekend date this year?
Is Opening (Wednesday) usually the best? Or is it usually too crowded?

It's going to be super crowded all three days, so you can't really factor that into your decision. The majority of free stuff is given away the first day and a half. Most tournaments (where you can win some nifty prizes like jet skis) are held Wednesday and Thursday. Wed & Thurs show floor hours are 10-6. Friday is 9-4. So you'll get another hour by going to one of the first two days. While I don't know exactly who or when, celebrities do rear their heads for autographs and pictures throughout the show. If you can find a list of celebrities and when they'll make appearences, that may help you decide which day to attend as well.
Hope this helps a little.

I'd be up for a meet Friday afternoon/evening or anytime Saturday. Or, I guess, any evening of the show, since it's over by the afternoon.

I also heard that the playboy playmate of the year and some other playmates will be at E3 on Thursday signing autographs and crap. I not 100% positive but if taht true that would be sweet cuz shes a hottie, so fine!!

I am going to be at E3 all three days. The get together has gone no where since it seems most of the Other forum members are arranging a national meet in August.
I think we should just arrange an E3 get together. we could all meet either at E3 on one of the days or after E3.

Well, I'm going all 3 days too. Not one to organize things so just waiting for someone to step up to the plate.

organizing is ok for me. however since I do not know L.A. I would need to do a meet at E3 itself. if someone is from L.A. and knows of a nice place close to E3 that would be great also.
we could pick a place like outside kentia hall at a certain time and day. i recommend not the first day since it is the busiest day usually.
of course you all know the Dvdtalk gang signs right so we will know who is one of us ;)

Gary,
Would you mind picking me up the <B>3 "daily mags"</B> that are given out there free (one on each day).
I'd like to get those, and whatever other cool schwag you can grab.
:D

Just let me know through email.

sure thing. I sent you an email also.
I am leaving at 5 am on tuesday so if we are able to decide if a few people want to meet we can pick a place onsite to meet.
otherwise everyone have fun :)

Well, if no one else wants to step up and set a time and a place, I guess I will. :)
I'll take a page from the Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com/news2002-05-13.html) guys and say...Kentia Cafeteria at 1 PM on Friday? That way, people can stop by to meet Tycho and Gabe at noon, and then meet up with fellow DVDTalkers at 1. I figure Friday will probably be the slowest day anyway. But if anyone has a conflict or a better suggestion, feel free to post here.

so who's going to be holding the DVDTalk sign or should we all have DVDTalk tattooed across our foreheads? :)

I guess we could tape dvdtalk to our chests ;)
Kentia cafeteria at 1 pm seems fine to me.
I wonder how many will be showing up. I guess if no one does at least we get an overpriced lunch :)

Of course, I could just tell you all to look for the guy with black hair and glasses who is wearing a button-down shirt and Dockers. That'd narrow it down to a few thousand people. ;)

It looks like we all missed each other on Friday. Iwas at the Cafe however the huge Penny arcade crowd might have scared away the few dvdtalkers.
I picked up the daily mags for Keyser and some other things for those i told I would try and get things. I will do a search and try and find out who I said I would get things for later. I did not end up with Gamecube stuff as those cubers just stayed in line nonstop :(
I did get a few Xbox things(small but free) and some things for me(tshirts). I also went to the Korean booths and picked up some stuff.
I hope everyone had some fun :)

I hope everyone had some fun :) I just got back home from L.A. a few hours ago. I had a ton of fun at E3, and I'm sorry the meet didn't go so well. I showed up a little late (around 1:10), looked around the cafeteria, and didn't see anyone with any obvious DVD Talk insignias or anything. Maybe the square of paper with "DVD Talk" scribbled on it that I attached to my badge was insufficient. ;) Anyway, I picked up some food and stayed there for about 15 minutes, but I still didn't see anyone. Oh well, maybe next year. :)
I still have to do an inventory on all of the freebies I got, but maybe sometime tomorrow I'll post a thread for giving away the stuff I have duplicates of. I'll also post some of the pics I took.
