Klute - a work of art
It never ceases to amaze me how many of the 70s movies
were terrific works of art. Watching Klute on the fantastic
new dvd transfer was a case in point. The real artist though
at work here is Gordon Willis, unmentioned by the dvd packaging
or cast and crew information. As Willis said elsewhere, some
people think he overdid his dark pictures - he does here - but
then, so did Rembrandt. Watch out for the scene where
Klute and Bree go street-shopping for fruit - I really don't
think this scene, especially where they walk away, in widescreen,
with their purchases, has been bettered in American film.

I agree that this is a visually stunning film. All the colors and the dark of night coming together to paint a beautiful picture in this classic '70s thriller. The only bad thing about this movie is Jane Fonda's hair (not to mention Jane Fonda ).

I agree 100% this is an excellent film, and it looks even better on DVD. I watched it last night and was very pleased with it. Needless to say, if you do not have it, buy it.
