of the above ones that I have seen and/or own. I highly recommend:

Black Christmas
The Changeling
Opera
and Let Sleeping Corpses Lie

Black Christmas was one of the first, if not the first, great slasher flick. The Changeling is just a great creepy haunted house flick that never becomes stupid or inane. Opera is one of my favorite Argentos and one of his most depraved and visually impressive (I recommend picking up any Argento film......even his lesser films have something recommendable in them....I haven't gotten around to watching Sleepless yet so cannot comment).
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie is definitely one of my favorite zombie films. I think for some reason there is something fresher and more creepy about this film that makes it stand out above most other zombie films. I'd recommend trying to track down one of the Anchor Bay tins that are still around if you like tins.

as for the others you mentioned.....
I also own The Church and House By the Cemetery and recommend them but would suggest finding out more about them before deciding. The Church is a Michele Soavi film who was Argento's DP, so there are some similarities. HBtC is a Fulci film and different people like different Fulci's. I enjoy all of his work on some level or another.....even the crappy stuff....it can serve as mindless fun when needed.

I liked the Creepshow films when they came out when I was a kid, not really interesting to me now. Haven't seen Clownhouse since I was young either....thought it was scary then but doesn't seem like it would really hold up for me now. I've heard many others talk about how bad it was.....hard to say.
I thought The Dentist was rather stupid, but I saw it on tv so that may not be a fair assessment.

Piercing fun I guess.

Just found the post funny, I was 14 when I saw HBtC and I had some bad nightmares after that.
