Yeah, but isn't this one of those miniature venue tours with ticket prices starting at $300 a piece and therefore only available to ticketmaster / radio insiders and industry people?

If so, they might as well not tour.

Well, unless the 70,000 seat Reliant Stadium (home to my Housotn Texans) is considered tiny, then I would say no. Ticket prices are $50 or $90, at least for the Houston show.

The rumor on the radio yesterday was that the Stones were playing 3 dates at the Aragon here in Chicago - a venue which I'm guessing might hold 7,000 to 10,000 (if they were all packed in real tight.

That's why I scoffed.

According to Pollstar, they're playing 3 Chicago dates:

Tue 09/10/02 Chicago, IL United Center
Fri 09/13/02 Chicago, IL Comiskey Park
Mon 09/16/02 Chicago, IL Aragon Ballroom

Yep this was the news this morning. Tickets go on sale to the public at Ticketmaster outlets Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Unless of course you pay $60 for a "club membership" that gets you a special online password for an online sale today at 10 a.m.

$50, $99, $150 and $350 seats at the United Center
$50, $90 and $350 seats at Comiskey Park
$50 tickets for the general admission "seats" at the Aragon - but good luck trying to snag one

I don't know. I'm not terribly jazzed about the whole Stones thing. The tickets are ridiculously overpriced. I just don't feel the need to spend $50 for nosebleed seats.

I saw them on the "Bridges to Babylon" tour. I think I'll pass on seeing them this time. Although during that week in September here in Chicago, the media's going to be saturated with "Glimmer Twin" news bites.

...
Now that I think about it, Comiskey isn't that strange because Soldier Field is being renovated.

I'm going to try for tickets to the Aragon show (if there are even any left by then) but needless to say I'm not exactly holding my breath.

And yeah, $50 is too much for nosebleed seats, especially at Comiskey.

I've never seen the Stones before. For any of you who saw them on "Steel Wheels" or "Babylon" tell me why I should go this time? I'm serious. I love their stuff from the 60's/70's, ("Tattoo You" was okay in the 80's...that's it) but think their 90's stuff was rot. If I go will I be stuck listening to half a show of new stuff? Now that I think about it, I wish their new stuff WAS good because I don't know that I want to see them perform their big hits either... kind of sick of a lot of their radio stuff. Is this just basically going to be like seeing the Beach Boys today?

Well, they're not promoting any album so I don't think there will be much new stuff (much like the No Security Tour in '99). I'd expect it to be a greatest hits tour with a few rarities sprinkled in here and there. Is it worth it? You should probably decide that for yourself. One thing worth noting is that this might be (or likely is) their last world tour.

Wow, I guessed that the Aragon only held 3,000 tops. It's
definitely not 10,000 and at $50 a pop (or $2,000 from a
scalper) is pretty good.

I've seen them 3xs now but I now have an urge to go see them
again. Guess I will have to see what is left over on Saturday.

Yes, it's a greatest hits tour, but you're wrong about the album. They will be promoting one.

I listened to their press conference announcig the tour and they said they're releasing a greatest hits CD set this autumn. The tour will be named after the CD, but that title is still not known.

Mick and Keef are great, but $350 plus service charges to sit in a football stadium is crazy unless they're also playing the SuperBowl that evening....

For their Vegas date, they're listed as "Venue to be announced." I hope they play Thomas & Mack, MGM Garden, or Mandalay Bay. I'll be quite pissed if they do what the Who are doing here...playing a small club and charging insane amounts for tickets.

For Giants Stadium, tickets are $50, $99, and $350. So actually, it is that much. For a concert in a 65,000 capacity stadium.

Well, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune had a blurb earlier this week saying Johnny Lang would be opening in some cities, but it didn't say for sure which one and if there would be others as well.
