PPG Maximo $9.99 at Blockbuster

The title pretty much says it all. I wasn't planning on picking anything up, but $10 for a well-reviewed game that's only 3 months old is too sweet a deal. They must have just lowered their prices, as that game was $24.99 last time I checked. They also had Splashdown for $19.99 and SW : Racer Revenge for $14.99 -- not bad, if you're interested.

I hope my BB is the same. Usually, these prices vary from store to store.

I remember seeing a bunch of Maximo's when I took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free sale a month ago. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I will check tommorrow.

Just wanted to confirm that the local Blockbuster here is also selling Maximo for $9.99. There were about 4 or 5 copies on the shelf when I picked mine up.

Another $9.99 deal found. The guy at BB said they had it for rent as an exclusive before it went on sale and thats why they were stuck with so many copies. Not a bad deal.

Still marked as $24.99 here, but I didn't have them scan it to check if it was indeed $9.99 (I was there for something else).

May BB had the price at $24.99 as well, but it rang up at $9.99. And I must say, the game and its contents are in immaculate shape for a rental.

The price should DEFINITELY ring up at $9.99 everywhere. It may be marked $24.99 or even $29.99 as those were previous prices. This was a GUARANTEED TO BE THERE title and is why so many are now available and the price is so low. That is great for several reasons. If you want to rent it, it will be in stock. If you want to buy it there will be plenty of copies and the price (after some time) should be GREAT. And most importantly it means that the games themselves should be in VERY NICE shape, as they were rented a lower number of times each since they had so many copies. Spiderman could easily be just like this in 3 months. We can only hope!!

All three of the titles I got during the Buy 2 get 1 Free deal were in great shape.

I actually just traded in State of Emergency to Funcoland for $12 bucks, which means I only paid about $6 to play the game.

Anyway, I got Maximo during that deal and I would say that this is a DEFINITE purchase for anyone who even remotely enjoys platformers.

Be prepared to have your ass handed to you a few times though

The Blockbuster near my office had 1 copy, so I bought it. Didn't get instructions, but I'd be surprised if this copy has ever been rented. Not one scratch.

From what I've read, I think it's going to frustrate the #*&%$ out of me, but for $10 I'll give it a try.

This game was fun for a while, but it gets old very quickly. Just figuring out how to save the game took forever and still makes me mad. Who wants to start over everytime you play because you couldn't spend an hour playing.

It is frustrating, and you DO have to sit down for some serious time with it.

I didn't really have a problem figuring out how to save though, not sure why it "still makes you mad."

I was "frustrated" at first, until I realized I had become so used to "saving anywhere" with the PC games I'd been playing. This is just a return to the "you have to make it through the level to save" method of gaming.

Grabbed one today that wasn't marked correctly. I'm tempted to buy 3 and go to EB with them and trade up for a new game but I don't trust them to honor their claims anymore and would prolly be told they won't do it cuz it'd make them lose money or some other silly excuse.

I stopped by BB today and I thought I had a steal. They had about 15 or 20 sitting there all marked at $9.99. I bought one and opened it when I got home but the label was ripped so it wouldn't play and I brought it back for a new copy.

My first copy of Maximo had instructions but this new one doesn't. And it makes a loud buzzing sound in my PS2 when I play it. It's only the second game to do that to me. Oh well...for $10 I can't complain too much.

Usually what I do is ask them to open it and verify it has the instructions and I take a quick glance at the disc to make sure there are no obvious flaws/scratches. The BB workers have never given me a hassle about asking and a few times they have gone out of their way to track down the instructions or whatever for me.

Yeah, I know I should have opened it there and asked for the instructions from the defective game. But I was kind of in a hurry.

So if anyone can get an extra instruction manual...

Mister Mosquito buzzed in my machine when I got it brand new so I doubt it's the sticker. Maybe the discs are off-balance somehow or something? I donno.

Picked up a copy of maximo today. the case was in good shape and it had the inserts and the game looked like it had never been played. $9.99 even with it marked 24.99 and then 25% off the $9.99 price.

best $8.07 I have spent in a long time.

Thanks for the tip

While I was looking for PVD's at BB, I ended up getting Fire Pro Wresling for GBA for $5 and change. Hopefully I can check out other BB's and see if they have some good PS2 games for sale.

I had that happen when I rented a copy of Maximo from BB, I exchanged it and the noise stopped. Check the edge of the disc, the one I rented had a little piece of the sticker hanging over the edge.
