Are these worth buying ?? ( donie Darko..etc)
Hey i am thinking about doing a couple of blind purchases : Donie Darko, The Man who Wasn't there and Tokyo Olympia> Criterion...
Are these good films. I loved Fargo and the The big Lebowski will I like the man who wasn't....
I heard that Donie has lots twist and turns like Muholland which I loved !!!
And tokyo Olympia sounds really cool, plus I dig the cover !!!
Your thoughts,comments...
Regards Kris.

It really, really helps if you split these kind of requests into different threads, especially if they're really different movies like these are.

Donnie Darko was good.
The Man Who Wasn't There was great.
And I have not seen Tokyo Olympia, but I am getting it since I am a Criterion freak.

I've only seen Donnie Darko and the Man who wasn't there. I would only really get the man who wasnt there. Donnie Darko didn't really appeal to me. Tried to do too much imho.

Both Donnie Darko and The Man Who Wasn't There are worth a purchase. Both films have great replay value, since there are many things that aren't picked up on in the first viewing. Haven't seen the third title you mentioned.

Donnie Darko was great.
The Man Who Wasn't There was visually stunning, but quite slow and boring. I perfer the Coen bros earlier work, so you may enjoy this one. It is certainly worth seeing, if for the cinematography alone.

I'd recommend the Donnie Darko purchase... but probably a rent of The Man Who Wasn't There. I bought Donnie Darko blindly, and I'm very glad I did so - I rented The Man... and while it was good, it just wasn't something I saw myself needing to own.

I'd buy THE MAN, and I'd rent DONNIE. Both are really great flicks, but Donnie is extremely frustrating to a lot of people and therefore i'd say rent it first...

Donnie Darko definitely!!
If you liked Mulholland Drive, you should have no trouble getting into the twisted reality of Donnie.
The plot and themes of the movie are complex enough to warrant repeat viewings. Plus, there's a really good commentary track and lots of deleted scenes, too.

Buy DONNIE, rent THE MAN. I love the Coen Brothers but their latest was just a little to slow-moving to suit me. It was more of an exercise in style and mood and the story wasn't much to speak of for the most part.
