my favorite classic rock and rap staitons have really sold out
B 104.3 in baltimore is the classic rock staiton i used to listen to, now they have started to play 80's, 90's and some newer songs because "this is what we asked for". (they actually asked for what improvements could be made to the staion.
Now what the ***** is up with some hip hop stations by playing *nsuck and b2k which are pop acts, not rap music.

It was Variety 104 for awhile, then they switched formats, they had a day where they played Stairway to Heaven all day.
Anyway they switched to the Colt around 93, or 94, then they started calling themselves 104-3....ooooooooooh ct, emphasis on the O...then they dropped the call letters and just called themselves Baltimores Classic Rock...1043.
Now they are B104 again, since B104 was well known and huge in the 80s.
They are now playing some Nickelback, Creed, and a few other newer things.

Gee, they must be owned by the same crap-ass radio coglomerate that turned 94.7 - who in 2001 were Chicago's only all-80s radio station into 94.7 "The Zone" - home to nothing but Creed, Sum-41, and Linkin Parks' "The End." (Not any other songs on Linkin Park's album - just "The End")
There's no getting around it: CORPORATE RADIO SUCKS!

Clear Channel runs about 1/4 of the market here in Madison, WI.
Clear Channel
These are the guys who run the radio divison. do they look like they listen to any modern music at all?
Clear Channel Radio, which daily reaches 54% of all people ages 18-49 in the U.S., realigned into eight geographical divisions in 2001. These regions provide advertisers and their agencies with a media footprint to match their trading areas. Selling teams are driven to package and sell various media and entertainment products across the companys multiple advertising platforms. Result: Integrated advertising and promotional programs that reach consumers and get results.

And Linkin Park is really, really overplayed, and it's not even that good. Ben Folds Five's "Brick" got overplayed bad and I hated the song. But when I got a chance to listen to the whole album I loved it and that album is one of my favorites.

Anyone familiar with Rock 101 in Vancouver?
www.rock101.com
A classic-rock radio station that, as far as I believe, has never sold out.
I'd recommend you give it a listen, especially between 6-10am Pacific Time, for the morning DJs...

Gdrlv, I agree with you there. I wasn't actually dying to turn on the alternative commercial station here in Atlanta 10 years ago, but PLEASE give me Beck or something like that over what is going on now. I was goofing around downloading some stuff last week and came across Madder Rose's "Panic On". There is really nothing that original about this song, but that is what I heard in the mid-90's and it's light years better than this... this... this... ugh, better stop.

Sounds like you need a station like we have here in Houston. It's Rice University's station KTRU. Unlike most college stations, which are a little better than regular radio, but not much, I guarantee that you will never hear anything that has ever been on regular public radio. Ever. In the same hour you might hear: a classical piece, some hard core, reggae, a spoken word piece, instrumental music from China, punk, death metal, and then 50's country. I will admit that alot of the stuff is just so far out there that I can't take it, but I listen to it anyway just because it is different. Go to www.ktru.org they post all of the setlists as they play them.
