Batman ROTJ uncut Review?
#2
DVD Talk Gold Edition
been looking for them too, but haven't found many.
i'll give you mine if your interested.
disc quality is disappointing.
although it states on the back of the jacket its modified from the original format, it is in fact matted widescreen. unfortunately its also non- anamorphic. i guess its for this reason that a lot of the 'animation lines' have a jagged, soft/fuzzy, or interlaced look to them.
the painted backgrounds look very nice, and the colors, blacks, etc look great.
animation is still, disappointingly, not much better than an average episode.
story-wise, its easily the most mature, and impressive Batman movie i've ever seen.
i avoided even renting out the old release on tape, because of the cuts. i finally broke down and got the comic book, which was done from the original script, so i did get acsess to the cut scenes in that form.
after that i read a list of all the changes that were made, and it did...contrary to what Dini, Timm and the corporate mouthpieces at WB were saying, really tamper with the impact of the events and the narrative.
if your a Batman fan ( you don't even have to be a big BB fan, i wasn't) you'll find much to appreciate in the uncut version.
i have to say tho, that video quality on my set-up was disappointing
