The second one sounds like it could possibly be: Jewel - Standing Still

You're not referring to the Wallflowers' cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" are you? That's the only thing I can think of.

Same thing I thought. And I'll confirm #2.

Jewel - "Standing Still"
Cuttin' through the darkest night in my two headlights
Trying to keep it clear, but I'm losing it here to the twilight
There's a dead end to my left, there's a burning bush to my right
You aren't in sight, you aren't in sight

Do you want me, like I want you?
Or am I standing still, beneath the darkened sky?
Or am I standing still, with the scenery flying by?
Or am I standing still, out of the corner of my eye?
Was that you passing me by?

Mothers on the stoop, boys in souped-up coupes on this hot summer night
Between fight and flight is the blind man's sight and the choice that's right
I roll the window down, feel like I'm gonna drown in this strange town
Feel broken down, I feel broken down

Do you need me, like I need you?
Or am I standing still, beneath the darkened sky?
Or am I standing still, with the scenery flying by?
Or am I standing still, out of the corner of my eye?
Was that you passing me by?

Sweet sorrow is the call tomorrow
Sweet sorrow is the call tomorrow

Do you love me, like I love you?
Or am I standing still, beneath the darkened sky?
Or am I standing still, with the scenery flying by?
Or am I standing still, out of the corner of my eye?
Was that you passing me by?
Are you passing me by? (Passing me by)
Do you want me? (Passing me by)
Do you need me, like I need you too?
And do you want me, like I want you?
Are you passing me by?

And here's the lyrics to Heroes in case that helps:
The Wallflowers
Heroes

I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever.

We can be Heroes, just for one day.

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing, nothing will drive them away
We can be Heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day

I, I remember standing, by the wall
And the guns, shot above our heads
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever

Then we could be Heroes, just for one day

We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
Just for one day

"Here I Go Again" is by Whitesnake
"Turn the Page" is by Bob Segar.

Is the Wallflowers cover of Heroes different from Bowie's?

If not, why don't you say its by Bowie instead of by the Wallflowers? Huh? Why? Don't ignore Bowie like that...he deserves the recognition, despit the crap he did in the eighties.

Because Rypro said that the tune sounded like Nickelback. Bowie doesn't deserve that kind of recognition...

Well, i've got no idea what a "nickelback" is, but it doesn't sound to good - good point

It turns out that the singer of the hero song that i was looking for had the singer from nickleback and saliva and is on the spiderman soundtrack. What is so bad about going to the mall.

For starters, from what I've seen, any disc bought at Sam Goody, Camelot, the Wherehouse, or any other mall record store will probably cost about $5.00 more than it would at most record stores.

If you are a member in Columbia House, you can get Whitesnake CDs for $2.99 + s/h right now.
"Turn the Page" is only on 2 Bob Segar CDs - Gr.Hits (which can be had for $10.88 at KMart & Live Bullet.

You should check out Record and Tape Traders on Reisterstown Road in the Cherryvale Shopping Center. Their prices are much cheaper than any store in a mall.

Never buy cds at a mall. If you're going to leave your house to buy cds, go to Best Buy.

...or better yet, a locally owned record/cd/tape store. You may not necessarily save money, but you're supporting an independent business with employees who might actually know what it is that they're selling
