Generic name, but it would be at least 3 1/2 times better than "Super Mario Sunshine."

X? Hmm...looks like the next Mario game will be an Xbox Exclusive! You heard it here first, folks!

X is most likly a place holder until NOA decides what they want to name it here in the sates.

I don't think it is official. It is the official Japanese name, but I do not think it is the official US one.

From IGN
April 02, 2002 - Press on-hand at Nintendo's Space World 2001 event in Tokyo, Japan caught
a glimpse of the anticipated sequel in the Mario franchise for GameCube during a brief video
previewed by designer Shigeru Miyamoto. The footage officially introduced Mario Sunshine
(now called Super Mario Sunshine in the US) as the title of the game and highlighted 30 or so
seconds of in-game footage that consisted of some big, interactive environments that would
make platform junkies drool and a whole lot of trademark jumping to boot.
The Story
Accoring to Nintendo.com the storyline is as follows: "Super Mario Sunshine is much different
than what you might expect.

I saw that on nintendo.com as well. But it wouldn't be unheard of them to change the name still, especially if they've gotten flack over it.
Personally I hope Super Mario World X is a different game. The more Mario games the better. :D
It would be sweet if it turned out to be a 2-D platformer, with 3 D backgrounds or something (the so-called 2 1/2 D game). :D

They could build a pretty nifty platformer out of the SSBM engine. Combine that with some sort of GBA link (example: Mario drops into certain pipes and comes out in your GBA), and you've got great potential.
Check that out. The graphic on the page has Kirby and other characters from Kirby games. There's some buttons on the side with screen shots etc., but you have to log in as a Nintendo Power subscriber to get them to work.
If anyone here is a subscriber check it out and let us know what you find.

I can't help but think that these are placeholder pages, or "test" pages used for testing the website. As mentioned, the artwork seems wrong, and the "Super Mario World X" rating mentions "Alcohol and Tobacco Use". For the time being, I'm pretty skeptical of this.

You know what really rule, if this was a whole new title, and it was interfaced more like Super Mario World for SNES (cleaner graphics, better sound). That would be soo great :).

Well, Miyamoto did say a while back that he wanted to do a more mature Mario title. :D

LOL!
I tried registering it but I had some problems with it even I have a membership number so I couldn't see the pictures...
Sounds interesting....I think Nintendo.com may have jumped the gun on E3 by accidentally putting these pages up early perhaps. It seems a little weird though its not mentioned on the front page, but interesting nonetheless....I'm gonna wait and see.

Anyone over at IGNboards said anything about this?
