Anybody own Nightmare on Elm Street box set?? Happy with it??

I have been on the fence with this series for almost a year. I have seen bits and pieces of one, all of three and that is it. I can purchase it for about 90 dollars U.S.
Opinions, and Critics also welcome.
Thanks.

As for the box design, layouts and overall presentation: a pitch-perfect "10." As for the movies, well that's an entirely different story.

I purchased my box-set when it was originally released, and for a really cheap price - $45.00. I have traded in the films that I really didn't like and have kept: "THE ORIGINAL," "Pt. 3," "Pt. 4, "THE NEW NIGHTMARE" and "THE NIGHTMARE SERIES ENCYCLOPEDIA." Strangely enough, the spines of my remaining films make up just about all of Freddy's figure. The bad flicks that I traded in aren't even missed. I guess I was lucky.

The transfers are all first-rate and sport 5.1 audio. Well, there you have it.

If you're a big fan of the movies then you'll like the collection. The commentary on the first one is very good the commentary on the 7th one is good as well. The transfers are great as well.

I too think it is a very nice box set and I recommend it. My only quarrell is that the first Nightmare doesn't include the deleted scenes that were included with the 2-tape VHS edition that came out several years ago. Also, one of the Nightmare's (5 or 6) was originally NC-17 until they cut some scenes. I only wish those cut scenes were included, but aren't.

I've had this since it came out. Definately worth the cash if you're a Freddy fan.

All of the movies are presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 and come in a very cool looking box. If you like the Elm Street movies then this box is definitely worth owning.

I'm another one who owns it and loves it (and I wasn't really a Freddy fan when I got it). Yeah, I would have liked deleted scenes too, but it's still worth the purchase.

great set.
seems like this came out so long ago.......when I only had a few dvds and buying a box set this big seemed like such a big deal.

anyway, the bonus disc alone is worth an entire night or two of entertainment.

I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the movies. I think half of the films are just plain bad, and I love the set.

I love this box set! if you are a fan of the films get it! If you are on the fence, and won't miss the money too much.. get it! Some of the movies are great... some are good, and one is BAD (number 2).... but as a box set.... it is a complete world.

Oh, by the way... what are those deleted scenes like on Elm Street 1 on the VHS? and what was cut from the NC-17 Part 5?

It's a great set even if you AREN'T a fan of the films.

I like a few of the films and was impressed with what the box had to offer. I think I also got a very good deal on it. ( Reel.com for 45.00 or something like that )

I'd say that bonus disc is where the set shines and for it alone I'm glad I bought the set. The films are good even if they are dated and it'll be nice to revist them now and then.

Yep, besides having a few good flicks in it the cool case and spine art are almost worth the price of the set!

This box set was the reason I bought a dvd player. All Freddy movies in widescreen.
I'm very happy with it. Shop around, you'll probably find it for less than the $90. Try half.com or ebay.

I picked it up when it first came out but have since sold it. It has basically no replay value. IMHO
