Any new Hindi DVD's out lately?

I saw Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Satya last week; now I'm wondering if there are any new DVDs out that are good. Anybody got any suggestions?

Company

If you like Satya, then you will be LOVE the newest film from the same director (Ram Gopal Verma) - Company. It's a very ambitious film that tells about how the biggest gangsters operate on a global scale. It is almost epic in scope.

Here's a forum thread discussing this magnificient epic: http://mars.jtlnet.com/~zulm/cgi-bin...=ST;f=1;t=1298

Also, here's some links to the movie's website and some reviews:

The DVD is slated to be out sometime this week. For best prices, keep on checking at the following website:

BTW, do you have a more specific date on the DVD release date for Company? Also does somebody have any info on what the best dvd mastering company is? I understand there are a couple, Eros and Dei and some others. Which one is the best?

The COMPANY disc is supposed to be available on April 17th, along with AANKHEN, another cool film about a fired bank employee who trains three blind men to help him pull off the perfect heist.

"Also does somebody have any info on what the best dvd mastering company is?"

They all pretty much suck. DEI used to be the best, but their standards have dropped. EROS/B4U, Videosound, Baba and the other labels that release Hindi Dvds don't seem to care much about producing high quality discs. Then again, you can get most of their discs for under $10, so it's hard to quibble.

actually while some of the Indian DVDs tend to be worse in audio/video quality than the Hollywood films, the overall quality is kind of on the rise.

Atleast the Indian DVD industry is starting to embrace Anamorphic video for most of the major releases, the sound is drastically improving (most of the releases are 5.1), and the extras are coming around again (Yashraj Films are best for this department).

For the DVD quality, I would say the DEI is still the best in terms of audio/video quality, but the other companies (like Yashraj films) are improving aswell. As for Eros, ok their transfers aren't great - but they're NOT BAD at all compared to their previous standards, and the releases tend to be cheap aswell. Plus with decent sound (which sounds much better on my 5.1 system than in the bad-quality second run theatres that these movies play on here in North America), and anamorphic video, these DVDs are worth it.

As for Company, it's an Eros release. Judging by their previous release dates, the film should be released by Wednesday to Friday at the latest. At Indiaweekly, the price should be around $12.99 or so. The word on the DVD is that it has Anamorphic 2.35:1 video, 5.1 sound, English Subtitles, 3 deleted songs videos (which were not included in the film but were on the soundtracK), and possibly some other extras.

hufeza, Company is now out on DVD, for $13.99 US at Indiaweekly. Here' s the link: http://216.122.236.174/datacart/prod...ProductId=4472

You may also be interested in another new film, "Aankhen" (the title means EYES), which is due out at the end of this week. It's pretty nifty thriller about a bank manager who decides to rob his own bank, with the help of three blind men. The film is very suspenseful with some pretty clever twists and turns and a GREAT ending!

It also features an all-star cast, with Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan in a downright villainous turn as the bank manager, and action star Akshay Kumar (the Indian Jackie Chan) as one of the blind men. There's also some very hillarious scenes, and the songs are great too (but are kept to a minimum - there's only 3 songs).

For a review of "Aankhen", click here: http://www.rediff.com/entertai/2002/apr/05aank.htm

And to visit the film's really good website, click here:http://www.aankhenadangerousgame.com

If you're interested, keep on checking the Indiaweekly site for the movie.
