DVD Talk Platinum Edition
I saw a few of these at some local B&Ms and its the 1 disc version of Mummy (not the 2 disc Ultimate Edition) packaged with Mummy Returns. Also, the Mummy was Full Frame, though I'm unsure if the Mummy Returns was (I would hazard a guess that it was, however).

ok well i went out and bought it at bestbuy for $27 bucks.. you can watch full version or choose widescreen. they are the collectors edition on both. also for a limited time only it comes with a 3rd dvd the behind scenes of the scorpin king movie. the movie is very clear i check my friends copy of the ultimate edition and the box set version has better picture quality and sound. also there is a few extras on the box set... once i watch them both and check it out 100% i will post again.. with more info...

I do not own either movie - yet. My choices seem to be:
Option #1:
Buy "Mummy: The Ultimate Edition" (2 Disc set)
Buy "Mummy Returns: Collector's Edition (Widescreen)" (1 Disc)
Total: 3 Discs
Option #2:
Buy "Mummy Collection - Mummy / Mummy Returns (Widescreen)"
Total: 2 Discs
Since I do not care for Full Screen at all, my main concern is: What do I lose when I go with option #2, which is cheaper? Thanks.

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
I reviewed the Mummy Ultimate Edition, and in the extras section, I mention what's added and lost from the CE - besides the extras, the UE also has a DTS track, which the CE lacks.

While I'm not sure what Robert's talking about either, I went with option #1 and scored both of them tonight from a single eBay-tailer for $30 shipped! Not too bad, methinks.
Thanks for the help, guys.

I noticed a lot of pixelation on The Mummy. More so than any other movie. Anyone else?? The black areas are not a problem.
But sometimes the walls seem to be crawling with pixels, especially during darker scenes. The daylight scenes are very clean.
Toshiba 40" widescreen
Apex 800 prog. scan
