Review/Opinion req'd on: Baise Moi, Fitzcarraldo, Seul contre tous, Audition

I've been interested in possibly getting these movies. As far as Baise Moi, Audition, and Seul contre tous are concerned, I am aware of their... level of content. I actually try to seek out certain movies like that as long as the film could still be considered art/entertainment and is just not exploitative.

So, does anyone recommend Baise moi, Audition, Seul contre tous (I Stand Alone), or Fitzcarraldo? I am planning on buying these soon -- what do you think?

Hendrik, I know you know some of these DVDs....

An idea of what other movies I have (Profiler)

Baise Moi - crap. Doesn't work on any level: artistic, political, exploitative, kitsch... just crap.

Fitzcarraldo - very good movie, excellent dvd (my favorite Herzog is "Kaspar Hauser", and I prefer "Aguirre" over "Fitzcarraldo", but I do consider the latter a must-have for even casual Herzog fans)

Seul contre tous - never seen it

Audition - definitely recommended, and when the hell is the DVD coming out?

Seul Contre Tous is a fist in the solar plexus of a film. And I mean that in the best way possible.

The acting in a typical porn title is better than that in Baise Moi, and the girls are more attractive too!
Skip it, IMHO.

I like all four films...

though if you asked me which one of these films doesn't belong in this group, I'd have to say Fitzcarraldo.

cheers, Tony Block

Just bought I Stand Alone as a blind buy and watched it today.

great movie and made very well. i loved the gunshots that went with all the jump cuts throughout the movie. The 30 second warning to leave the theater is great, wondering if my ex-gf will leave or not when i show it to her this weekend.

Baise moi, is worth watching once just, but the quality of the movie and the disc itself bring it way down.

since this post is way old, i'd assume you've most likely bought or scene this films, what did you think of them?
Audition was good, but i guess i read way too much into the hype and was alittle disappointed, definitely get this one but for myself it has little replay value, if i can ever get it cheap or i start to build a miike collection...

I haven't bought any Herzog yet (calm down, Tony! ), but I will soon. I did see Audition and Seul Contre Tous.

I think Audition was good, with the only pet peeve that the transfer wasn't anamorphic (and I can't use the 'fill' feature to see it non-anamorphically because it cuts off the sub-titles).

Seul Contre Tous I finally sat down to see and thought it was really good -- can't wait to see Noe's other work.

After revies here I lost interest in Baise Moi, although if I ever see it for $10 or less I will get it.
