I want to play Shenmue 2 . . .
but it wasn't released in the US. Do I need to have a modded Dreamcast in order to play the UK version? I actually heard a rumor that Dreamcasts didn't need modding in order to be able to play import versions of games. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

the us dreamcast will play the uk shenmue 2. all you need is a boot disc but it converts the pal to ntsc just fine.
also if you want to use your shenmue 1 save file there is a conversion that can be done. lemme know and i can help you out

Yeah, you can make your own boot disk, although I had trouble getting them to work on my DC. I ended up going with this:
DC-X (Epinions page)
The only import game I own is Shenmue 2, but I still consider the DC-X worth the twenty bucks I paid for it. If you can get the boot disk thing to work then go with that, but if not, this is another option.

I use the Utopia boot CD at www.dcemulation.com . It works just fine.
...also there are places to get Shenmue 2 on the net for free if you know where to look. (I don't know if it's appropriate to mention here, because Shenmue 2 was never released here, so it's not technically piracy.)
