Should I buy Stock in 3DO?

A coworker of mine said she bought 1000 shares in 3DO Stock saying it was expected to tripple over the summer.

I don't know if I'm sure about it. They have a few solid franchises, but I don't really know too much about this company. Anyone know anything or can offer advise?

Look at their financial reports and see what products they are working on. Then see if any of these products are due out this summer. If nothing is due out this summer, then there is no reason their stock should go up (unless they are being bought out).

Well, I would have guessed that the time to buy it was a few months ago, considering that just last week they released games in their best-selling franchises. I don't know of anything coming out that big this summer.

Actually, I'm a little shocked that they are a publicly traded company.

From MSN Money Central:

"3DO Company, a micro-cap value company in the technology sector, is expected to significantly underperform the market over the next six months with very high risk."

I'm thinking of going with THQ

They're stock is doing a 3:2 very very soon, and then it will be around $20.

THQI is the ticker.

To return to the video gaming subject on hand (well, not really), im dabbling in ATI myself, it goes up and down once every couple of weeks for a few bucks and is around 20.65 Cdn and word is it should reach 30-35 within 6 months...

I love how they are climbing back in the gaming market and giving Nvidia some competition.

i would research this a little more

i read an article about them a while ago about their business model being heavily dependent upon their WWF franchise, and wrestling's general decrease in popularity. i'm not saying wrestling is dead, but i think should it start to slip, the game can only follow.

Yikes, Maybe I'll go with THQ, but then again MSN Money Central said my KKD stocks would be going down for aver a year now.

Are there any other publically traded game companies out there?

Before Liver said anything I was going to say that THQ is distributing many old Sega titles for different systems. THQ is far more than the WWF, even though that is most likely their biggest money-maker. Interest in wrestling may be waning, but interest in wrestling games is not. I expect a LOT of people to buy GameCubes to play WM X8 when it comes out in June. If it can deliver on the promise of something like AKI/Asmik's line of games I forsee a lot of people migrating.
