Words cannot describe how dreadful this movie is...but we tried -

Later this weekend we'll be posting a review of the "Thir13en Ghosts" DVD, Joel Silver's other William Castle remake. It's awful, too, IMHO.

I can't speak for the DVD, since I do not own it, but as for the movie, it is absolutely horrid. Not even worth the webspace for a message to respond to say how bad it is.

This DVD is quite good. It contains the trailers for the 1958 version and the 1999 version. It contains a director's commentary by William Malone, and 2 or 3 deleted scenes. The movie is one of the scariest of the 1990's. It is a very very good film.

I didn't think it was that bad of a movie at all. It's got a very good atmosphere and it's got a good cast. For the haunted house genre it's one of the better modern day films, IMHO.

I was very surprised at how good a DVD this is. I like the effects and the roller coaster scene is a good theater system workout.

Geoffrey Rush plays Mr. Price, a pretty funny impersonation of old Vincent. You can't go wrong with Famke Janssen (looking great) and Peter Gallagher, who's good in everything he does.

Unlike the original the film takes place in a former mental institution where illegal experimants were conducted on the inmates. The scenes of the inmates rebelling and killing off the medical staff are chilling and creepy. I liked both versions of the film.
