I know they used to be really good about getting stuff to you even before release date. I'm thinking of preordering some low-priced stuff from them, but I just want to see if people preordering from them recently have had good experiences. I know it's pretty much impossible to cancel a preorder once it's been placed, so I'd like to get some feedback as soon as possible before ordering. I ran a search and couldn't find any recent discussions on the matter. Hopefully someone will be able to let me know how they are at shipping preorders of big name titles. Thanks.

I last used Buy.com in late December for a Moulin Rouge preorder after not shopping there for many months. While it didn't arrive before release (which didn't matter as I was out-of-town), it did come the week of, within a decent timeframe.

For the last three weeks, I've had pre-orders with Buy.com (NOTLD: ME, Training Day and K-PAX).

They were all shipped on the Thursday before street via Priority mail from Oregon and arrived on Saturday.

Unfortunately, that may not hold up for future orders that I might place with them.

They seem to have switched to a "budget shipping" option for their free shipping promotion.

I can only speculate that it involves media mail.

Aaah...the order I wanted to place did have the free shipping promotion. Not worth it if I'm going to have to wait until the week after release, for this DVD anyway.
