I used to be a huge Soundgarden fan, but I am afraid to say that I don't think I will be enjoying Rage Against the Machine with Chris Cornell, unless they start sounding like SG, which I doubt. I can't imagine being a RATG fan and then listening to Cornell sing with the group, it just all seems like it would sound so -- different. Any other thoughts?

No I was just using that but that picked "Civilian" as a name and just found out it was taken.

So back to drawing board.

They're not necessarily gonna sound like RATM. I bet they'll have softer stuff with Cornell's great voice on a few songs.

I'd prefer the name "Sound Against the Machine". But "Rage Against the Garden" is funnier!

I'd rather have Tom's kick arse guitar then cornell's voice.

They won't sound like rage. The rest of the band already said that they are abandoning the Political rap rock kinda spiel with the exit of Zach de La Rocha. Tom said it will be a straight up hard rock band, which should kick ass because A) The musicians (especially Tom) in rage are excellent and B) Cornell is one of the best songwriters/vocalist/lyricist to show up in the last 15 years.

I'm excited to see Tom hopefully go back to more of his punk/hard rock roots style wise. His guitar playing with Cornells should be an interesting mix. These were 2 of my all time favorite bands anyway hehe.

Well the new Rage/Cornell band plus System of a Down (IMO one of the most brilliant bands working today) are the only things that could've drawn me to pay all the cash for Ozzfest.

Speaking of broken up bands. Right now the second and third week in April Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain's new band "Zwan" will play a week's worth of shows in the midwest.

Confirmed are one show at the Blue Note in Columbia, Mo., and three shows apiece for Chicago's Double Door and St. Louis' The Galaxy. Check ticketmaster for the accurate nights.

Tickets are $20 give or take.

I'd be interested just to see what the hell they look like and sound like. I'm there.

I would love to hear this band do the old Soundgarden fav "Gun" that would kick some serious ass.

I'm anticipating the new sound and the new tracks from these guys. I don't think I'm willing to endure the crowd and other bands (Besides system of a down) just to hear them though.

At first I thought this was about a tribute band that plays songs by Savage Garden in the style of Rage Against the Machine.

This was just announced on Friday and it's not even Monday morning yet and Chris Cornell is already leaving the new band.

I seriously f**king doubt it.

Name a source next time.

Actually it is true. Not confirmed, but it seems right. It was first reported by ThePRP.com on Friday. RATM's manager is issuing no comments to everyone who calls. It's a non-denial denial. He's out.

Cornell's manager has confirmed the split. The album they recorded will still be released this summer.

Sorry I doubted......

Mtv News has it as their lead story.

What a complete bummer.

It doesn't make sense about the Ozzfest announcement then.......somebody screwed up somewhere.

No one screwed up. Ozzfest lineup was announced on Thursday and Cornell quit on Friday. Apparently Sharon Osbourne is not too upset about it, which is pretty *****ing surprising.

No one is saying anything yet. We're trying to get someone from the Rage camp to comment, but they won't return calls.

Well he had to have known they were gonna make the announcement Thursday. He should have stepped in and said something first instead of getting millions of people all excited over nothing.

Unless he just woke up Friday morning and decided against playing with them.
