Matthew Good Band and The Verve
Anyone like these bands? Urban Hymns is a wonderful album by the Verve. Matt Good has 4 great albums out in Canada. They are very underrated in my opinion.

Matthew Good Band was great... Underdogs is a classic record and The Audio of being is really good...I like it more than Beautiful Midnight, and Last of the Ghetto Astronauts is pretty good too... a very good band that is no more... too bad... (in case you didn't know, they just broke up)

The Matthew Good Band are fantastic. Certainly Canada's premiere band - albeit, they just broke up. Sigh. And right after they released their best album to date...
Anyone who hasn't given this band a listen should check out the songs "Flashdance II", "Advertising On Police Cars", "Load Me Up" and "Strange Days". If you don't like those tracks you probably won't be too terribly impressed with anything else.
Frankly, I think they (well, Matt Good himself anyway) rock.

For those who only have The Verve's Urban Hymns, your collection is empty without 'A Northern Soul' and 'A Storm In Heaven'.' One day people will catch up to The Verve and so will the music press, they are one of the great's in my opinion. Nick McCabe and Ashcroft where a dynamic pair.

Yup the verve are no more, some excellent songs though,
If you liked them you should love the Richard Ashcroft solo cd
alone with everybody. It has some really good songs on it.
Although he annoyed me by rescheduling a concert in SF 2 times, and then had the gall to cancel the 3rd date.
That really irked me esp cos I paid 180 dollars for 2 tickets on eBay with no recourse.
Also Check out Ian Brown as well, late of the stone roses, another good voice his song F.E.A.R is classic.

Man, BDB, 180 bucks for 2 tickets?
Saw them in 94 at Slims, 97 at The Warfield, and 98 at Bill Graham Civic.
They only caught on here in the States due to Bittersweet Symphony but all of their albums are good.
Ian Brown is good too, CD only though. Live he can't sing worth a damn
