I've got Sould Calibur already and was considering picking up one of these with some Half.com money that just came in. Which of these two is the better game all around (including extended replay value)? Or would you suggest something else?

I'd pick powerstone2, powerstone1 and mvc2 in that order.
other good fighting games:
1) Project Justice
2) cap vs snk
3) last blade 2
4) guilty gear x
5) dead or alive 2

Soul Calibur = #1 by far
DoA2 = #2.
The rest are moot.

IMO, I like Powerstone 2 better. But I find both fun. There are so many different things you can do in powerstone 2, and that makes the replay value high. All of the interactive sets, etc.... Marvel vs. Capcom 2 seems like it is too fast for me, I can't concentrate on what I am doing, yet I am having fun. It can be a little confusing, ( I know that sounds stupid because it is a fighting game and all).

Marvel vs capcom 2 is one of my all time faviorite games. Me and my buddies wasted a whole winter last year on that game. Ive never played powerstone so i couldnt tell you which one i think is better.
On a side note, all my friends that use to come over and play like to call this game "seizure". One time my buddy just threw his controller on the floor mid game and walked out of the room with his hands on his head and he was all wide eyed and shaky. He said he was having a seizure. This was after like 5 hours of gaming. Great stuff, we still laugh at him to this day.

I thought PowerStone 2 was difficult to play on a small tv. Lots of fun, but still not my bag, on my friend's 32" Sony.

MvC2 by far. I played that game obsessively for 3 months straight.
Can't go wrong with either MvC2 or Powerstone 2!

I'd definitely take Marvel vs Capcom 2 over Powerstone 2. Both are great, but MvC2 just has that great over-the-top action that I love about the MvC and Marvel vs. Street Fighter series.

A lot depends if you are looking for a 1 player or multiplayer game. With just 1 player, PS2 really really sucks. It is way too easy to have any challenge and its just not that fun playing against the computer.
With 4 people at once, PS2 is a kickass game.
MvC2 is a great single player game, because you can work on the feeble computer to set up some great combos/strategies. Multiplayer its pretty good, but its the type of game where the better player always wins. So if you play the same set of people, the same people will always win (most of the time). PS2 seems to not depend on individual skills as much.
So, both are good games.
More than 2 people: PS2
1 Person: MvC2
2 People: both are decent for 2, but if they person you are playing with sucks at MVC2, it won't be much fun. Even if they suck at PS2 it might be fun.

P2 got boring really quickly for me honestly - on a smaller tv screen it seemed like it turned into a lot of button mashing and unclear action. MvC2 was the reason i got a DC - it is such an incredibly fun game and although it can turn into a button masher as well but if you know what you are doing as far as combos and such go it becomes an absolute blast. Also, with the purchasing of new characters, stages, and costumes it has tons of longetivity to it.

Both are somewhat button mashers, but I think MvC2 is much better. I just never got into the Powerstone games because I thought Super Smash Bros on the N64 was better. Now after playing the hell out of Super Smash Bros. Melee on the GCN there's no way I could play a powerstone game. I still play MvC2 fairly often though. At least a couple times a month.
