Too high black level on Samsung LD player

Hopefully, there are some LD fans out there...

My old Samsung DVK-500 LaserDisc player tends to display a fairly elevated black level. Do any of you guys know if there's an easy way to tweak this without having to hand it over to a specialist?

Have you tried adjusting the brightness and contrast of your TV set?

Oh yes, I have, but since the black levels on both my tv and all my other video sources appear to be correct, I wondered if there were any means to adjust the black level of the LD player to match the others, permanently.

See, I don't like the idea of having to adjust brightness, contrast etc. each and every time I watch a LD. And then back again.

But thanks for your reply, anyway :-)

Is there an IRE +/- setting in the LD players menu?

That is the same as black level

Thanks. Well, the menus on this particular model are pretty scarce, next to totally absent, actually. But there may be some possibilities inside the player, a pot meter or so. Haven't dared opening it yet...

I will check this out.
