Will PS2 ever get a two player shooting game like Golden eye?

I was wondering if PS2 will ever get a great 2 player shooting game like Golden eye?

Where have you been ? There are tons of multiplayer First Person Shooters out there. These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head
James Bond in Agent Under Fire(my personal favorite. Especially with a mulitap and 4 players)
Time Splitters (and Time Splitters 2 which is coming out soon)
Unreal Tournament
Red Faction
Half Life
Quake 3 Revolution

There are a few others as well.

Timesplitters is a GREAT game, and it's by the same team who did Goldeneye. I had some Goldeneye fans in my house who picked up on it right away.

Rare, a Nintendo 2nd party developer, made Goldeneye.

My statement stands. Rare is a company. The development team that did GoldenEye split off and formed Free Radical Design, and they did Timesplitters for Eidos.

Don't believe me if you don't want to:

Yup Timespitters rocks.

My roomie and I play it religiously.
Were still trying to unlock everything.
Got all the missions done on easy and normal.
But hard is just a friggin nightmare.

Game has more player models than anything I've ever seen.
Good maps too.

The level editor is kinda cool, specialy for making insane maps that give people seizures. But not realy that great for large scale honestly good maps.

Grab TS, its a hoot.

How is the single-player mode? From the reviews it sounds like the game is much more fun as multiplayer than single player.

As a single player game, it's a little weak. Okay, a lot weak. Multiplayer is a strong enough feature to overcame that with this particular game.

I have to say it again: 007: agent under fire, is a great game, and most people choose to ignore it cause its not Goldeneye,...

The 4 player in AUF is great! Jsut as good, if nto ebtter, than Goleneye's ever was. True the single player system is a bit on the weak side, but so is goldeneyes after 5 years.

I agree on AUF. The single player was fun but the multiplayer is incredible. Also, Time Splitters 2 is do out in April and looks incredible. Plus it has a true single player mode as well as the same great multiplayer game. Also, Red Faction 2 is due out at some point and unlike the first game will feature 4 player multiplayer.

I have to disagree with you on that one. Goldeneye is the best FPS to date, including the new EA bond. Rare really out-did themselves with that game, and the single player gameplay has yet to be outdone.

I agree. I've played 'em all and Goldeneye is still the one to beat on consoles. Only reason I hung onto my N64.

Nah.

Halo whups Golden Eye's butt.

Gota love the maps, vehicles, and multi.
Plus you can't go wrong with Co-op.

(Halo multi 2 player isn't really great. But 4 player is the most fun in the world)

You just walk to slow in GE.
Plus I loath the N64 controller.

I have both Halo and Goldeneye and I would say they are both great games. Not sure which is better.

Wow... I think you move pretty quickly in GE and the N64 controller is terrific, especially for GE.

over 40 people contributed to Goldeney. Like 3 broke off from rare. I would hardly call that the same team.

If you can point me to some specific numbers other than just your word, I'd appreciate it. I've heard "like 3", "the majority", "almost half", and the ever so vague "some." Even a heavily slanted Nintendo site said that 5 out of 20 left... not the 3 out of 40 you quoted. You're absolutely correct though that the ENTIRE team didn't leave, and I should have made that more clear. I didn't expect to get nitpicked to death. The essence of my recommendation stands: if he liked Goldeneye multiplayer, he'll like Timesplitters multiplayer. They're very closely related, almost to the point of Timesplitters being a faster rip-off.

Nah, I'm a speed freak when it comes to Vid Games.
Tis why I swear by XG3.

GE is just to slow walking wise, and its a pain in the arse to move and aim at the same time. The 64 controller is mine Enemy. I hate it with a capital HATE. Just a personal prefrence tho.
While I hate the fact that there is no jump, there is no jump in TS but I still like it.

Halo just fixes all the issues I had with GE.
You can jump.
You can throw grenades WHILE shooting.
You can smack someone's ass without changing guns.
You walk faster, but not as fast as I'd like. (Halo with a "Run Faster" button would rock)
Since you have 2 joysticks its alot easyer to walk and aim at the same time. Making Circle Strifing + Aiming much easyer.

GE was the first of it kind to "do it right".
It was a good game for its time.
But there are alot of newer games that just do it much better.

1-4 player. I'm really excited for the upcoming sequel which looks to be even better.

Good I gave been looking for a good 4 player game. I have Agent under fire right now which is really cool, but the levels are a bit small besides 2 of them. Thanks again, Josh
